S as on Decs. 71mm rain previous Thu to Sun, 3mm on Mon and 2mm overnight. Nona Blu a first 2yo runner for sire Diktat in Britain since 2010. Video of NB's breeze shows a Medium Diktat type with length and range and a longer neck. Ok build overall and depth front. Does and unremarkable breeze along the far rail getting into his galloping pace and maintains that to the finish. Mostly balanced other than when hits loose ground. Why the so-so price at 36k? A bit smaller than Medium? If the one pace he gets to is just medium was his time slow? Why start him at 5.1f if that were the case. Immediate Post Race thoughts = The match between Majestic Hero & Clodovil Doll developed with the last 1.5f+ a piece of work between. MH not looking fully clued up but just too big and powerful compared to CD. Early prices and even the SPs just 'wrong' if you have look at the two horses as physical types. MH not looking fit on return from a break and a bit Leggy for length but it all works ok. CD a small and 'Now' filly who is below 70 and probably by a little way & the gap widening as the WFA stagger winds out. Boann small and a slightly odd shape but in good condition and ran competently. An ok debut by trainer standards but size an issue and see if she is usable high 50s. Nona Blu smaller than expected after seeing the breeze video. In so-so condirion and looking 'down' in attitude unless she is some sort of quiet one normally. Outpaced here by 2F out as soon as paced up and the Why 5f? Question returns. Trainer Dunlop interviewed before race and said he had a homebed for the Roys and now they had sent him NB. Had been told to "get on with him" so perhaps 5f here just an Educ Intro to do as asked. PRev here a negative and 60s. Abba Zabba a late debut for a usable one by Evans' standards and hugely mentally young here and no surprise to see him get adrift. Smaller type but can muscle up so check development STO+. Wink Oliver another of that herd of small home/owner breds the Channon stable seems riddled with. WO green and a poor mover on this surface. More seller garbage? Jk Probert interviewed post race and used the phrase "carried them" to suggest MH had won comfortably. Trainer Harris then interviewed and clearly had a high opinion of MH and said he would be entered for RASCT over 5-6f. Interviewer asked whether he was one of the best 2yos he had had and Harris seemed to get a bit choked up. Said that MH's sister who he had in 2013 was very good. That filly 2nd STO then pulled up 3TO and hasn't run since and by Harris' reaction is dead. Harris has a good record of developing 2yos with racing and MH has enough bulk to enable that. 80+ and with Harris conditioning should win again at, say, Novice level. |
