G as on Decs with Scotland missing much of the which has been drifting in from the Continent and not the usual SW->NE pattern. 0.9mm rain overnight. Slow Time and the Older Hcap run at 16:15pm won in 72.19s won by OR65 4yo mare (carr 8-12 before the A3). Slow Time partly due to a Slow Pace for the first 2F+ downhill with nothing wanting to lead. A7 on Diatomic eventually let her mount go to the lead and XF tot he rail attended by Decisive Rebel 1 wide. This pair seemed to up increase the pace around halfway and a 2.5L gap devloped to 2R of Multiplier & Indian Keys. Poor form and not race to be looking too carefully at for future winners, except at a similarly low level or Sellers. Competent run by Diatomic but small and not seeing the 6f out off this pace. Prob low 50s if usable. Multiplier shown hints of an attitude problem previously and similar here. Driven by Hf as the pace upped and not responding well. Hanging right and whip for much of last 2F including 3 x hits in quick succession around 1F out. Having wallowed around in 2R behind Diatomic for 1F he seemed to get a bbit more interested when switched back to the rail. Got to lead through gap and going ok at the finish. But prob low 60s, winning in a slow time against poor rivals and with a suspect attitude. Indian Keys prob ok for OR63, say, but lacks pace in the last 2F on the evidence of her runs so far. Travelled better (or more willingly) than the winner as the pace increased (but, after having been hustled to get going early). That slow start meant she raced Centre track and laboured progress in the last 2F to get to 2nd late and then a fade on the line. That lack of a kick and slow staying on makes it hard for her to win 2F 'sprints' like this. Odd effort by Sudest who looked green and underpowered on debut. Has been seller entered in the interim. Looked unwilling here and dropping last towards Hf as the pace lifted and the jk getting busy with the whip early. Hung out to centre track and with the active jk plugging on a bit and got from 6 VTLs back at Hf to 2 back inside the last 1F, Switched left toward the rail at that point and seemed to be staying on ok (in the context of this moderate group) in the last 0.5f and would probably have been 2nd. But the A7 on Diatomic got tired around the same time and let her mount roll over to the Rail. That closed the Gap Sudest was going for knocking him back by 2-3L. So, better than the final reasult (BTR) for Sudest but what does that actually amount to in form terms? Would you trust him to run a competent race NTO? The other pair looking small and overpowered even in this field. Blazing Rose crabbing around at times as well, as if something not right with her. |
