SUMMARY
Pre-Race = Red Touch ought to be a short, bulky one with some length. A bit on the small side perhaps and perhaps unproven movement (on the record of the pair who signed for him at the DBU sales). Video looks a better than that with a medium one of ok movement with one notable problem. Did a very poor breeze because he hung or veered Left every time the rider loosened the right rein a bit and asked for some forward effort. Which meant he went from stands side to far side and only did some continuous forward moving right at the end.

Stewards' Enquiry into improved form from Areion?

Post Race = A look back at Areion's previous 2 races = FTO jk is active for most of race and Areion looking a bit green and wary. Does respond at Hf to close up a bit in centre track but then tiring by-1.5f on stiffer track. Could say it was just an Educ Intro and not fit enough. STO gets an ok break wide at DONC but allowed to drop last but with a slow pace gets back into the group ok by Hf. Looks willing enough but plain outpaced 2F out and then an early fade. Looking the smallest in that Auction race and overpowered. Presume the trainer would say if asked that 3TO Areion had blinkers FTO, was fitter and found herself in a slow race she could get into a good position in able to just plug on to win receiving weight from similar lesser types. Showing the same willing attititude here she has before and seeing the race out. But in aslow time and receiving 10lbs. Smaller type in field and a bit narrow bodied. Even a 60? Prob finished the wining and struggle in Nurseries if she gets mid 60s.

Red Touch would probably have won the race if he run just a bit more professionally. But, he had looked wild or unsteerable in his sale Breeze in Mid-April so 'professional' on the hopeful side. Veered LH at the breeze but better here and only mildly hanging left and a bit free-running. But, that meant he went 2 wide around the long bend and then drifting out to race nearer stands' side in the HS. a solid effort int he last 1.5F and would have won with a few more strides. Some sort of lower to mid-60s? McCabe 'unlucky' with this sort of run or symptomatic of his overall ecord with 2yos? Like relegated football team manager's claiming they were 'unlucky' when they actually hadn't done enough themselves to aid a positive result. McCabe done a good job getting early plaes with the small Red Connect or a poor job in race placement?

Basil The Great had looked a usable 60 type on early runs and back from a break here. As with a number of Dascombe 2yos recently looking in good condition and perhaps a bit improved. Add in a typically uncpmplicated Kingscote ride and BTG performing to his level but still caught late despite an easy lead. Kingscote taking control of the race with the others not wanting to or too green. The opposite of standing around moaning because you were 'unlucky' and blaming external circumstances.

Lady Zodiac another getting a good run through the race and an ok effort at her level 2f out but an early fade. 50s of some sort and little interest.

More interest in Ms Eboracum going forawrd. Look at her breeze VT from Brightwells in early April and it is unremarkable. A balanced one galloping along. Presumably smaller type and in her own time but why only £1,200? Green here and racing head up but an ok size in the field and a solid effort in the HS at this low level. Needs a check for ok 60+ and might be value with a trainer who is unfashionable on the 'Cheat Sheets' the Market formers often use.

Vegas Rebel with a 'shrewd' trainer and Spencer ridden so a surprise to see him at 7/2 and not a short favourite. Which seemed to say he was not expected to win despite the comments about his size in 214 and VR making his debut when the competitive 2yos for the stable often start. Untypical for the trainer in that the horse looked clueless. Slow to get going, uncomfortable on the bend and veering RH in the HS. Once out of the race some ok response before the last 1F then an early ease. Likely that the Market will, in this instance, be informative STO as to what the reliable trainer thinks of him and how much he has managed to fix the faults.

Mister Arden another bigger type in the field and seems to move ok. Seemed to make a similar effort to BTG initially 2F out but then losing 0.5L or so and a milf bump from BTG knocked him back a bit. The got a bump back the other way from Areion and MA. Looked a bit like the 'Gaps' going faster than him rather than being unlucky. One to track because he should be usable mid 60s and interesting to see what distance he is at 3TO. Since he faded early then back to 5f? But he got outpaced here so up to 7f and a slowe rpace race? He looks like he has a rhythmical movement and would be best just using that to get into a stride (one paced but not as a negative) and use it probably leading. Rather than riding his for a kick 2F out which he did not look to have here.

Mullionheir a small bulky one as the first runner of the season for John Best. A trainer whose returns peaked at Average Levels (against the overall level) a few years back and has dropped back to poor in the last 2. Mullionheir too green and underdone to keep up here and moving poorly at times.

Stewards Enquiry Report into Riding Offence = "The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference from the furlong marker. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that BASIL THE GREAT, placed third, ridden by Richard Kingscote, had interfered with the winner, AERION [Sic] (IRE), ridden by Liam Jones, which in turn interfered with RED TOUCH (USA), placed second, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. The Stewards found Kingscote in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding, in that he had allowed his horse to drift left without sufficient correction. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 June 2014."
