GGS from GSG on Decs. Rail Fully In. Luke Morris interviewed after riding Expensive Date and said he had to niggle the horse along to keep tabs on Amber Crystal but that he had expected that. He had seem AC run at SALS and knew she had some pace. Felt that ED running green in the last 1f+ but well on top at the finish. Ears pricked late on into the closed pull-up area so that sounds reasonable. But ED lighter framed and not really showing 5f pace here and staying on uphill in the extended 5f part. Presume 6f+ better but lack of bulk a niggle and the fact the trainer dropped her to BTON to win. Even 75 overall? 'Poor record', sorry... Not the Greatest Trainers in the World (keep saying BRD to yourself) are the opposite of good trainers and one way is that they find-ways-to-lose. Amber Crystal fizzy on debut and with a downside trainer. The upside is she is solidly built, has some pace and the trainer should help make her value to support. But, you always need some amount of extra points in the Price to take it because of the trainer's irritating knack of not winning. B2yoR wrote back in 2007 about trainer Gallagher being a trainer who didn't know how-to-win but things had looked a bit better in 2010 & 2012-13 although the wins still came partly by persistence. AC too fizzy here and the sweating AP a concern. Allowed to take off after a so-so start to a clear lead. Stop the race inside 2f out in the Dip and she is going best. But the free running catches up with her on the uphill finish and extended 60-70yds and she is fading before the finish. Better John, but still not on the 'Respected' list. AC upper 60s to 70 and must be able to win something but sort out the free-running bit or find a faster 5f, say Ffos Las. |
