G by Race Time. GS from S on Decs. Stalls Centre but filed taken to race StdsSd-Cent by+1f by free running Framley Garth. FG on the Stands' Rail by-2f. Early pace a little above average with FG free but settled down to be average to slower and enabled a speading out of the field -2.5f and a minor Creep Zone to the-2f point and the final efforts. A slower Final Time given the conditions and more of a 2f Sprint type Shape. Some rough thoughts. Peacock medium sized and strongly built, especially in front. A solid debut although not showing anything different in wearing down CP. Hannon stable website reporting he will be considered for the Coentry now. That seems more like Hannon deferring and the website also notes the owner likes runners at 'her' meeting. On the upside Hannon FTO wins are often useful. upper 80s on strength? Commander Patten cheaply retained at the Breeze Up sale at NMKT and very fit and ready here and a bit too free. Lacking scope and the fact he can pull clear of the others with Peacock helps set the level of from here. Mid 70s of some sort. Epithet ought to be an 85+ if Appleby starts him at NMKT. But, one of the smallest in PRev and not that taking to look at in the picture. Another shorter Shamardal and not as bulky and well put together as the best of those type. Crept into a volunteer 3rd by staying on late without ever being in the race. Despite Appleby appearing to try to peak STO prob one to let go and see what level of race he is in and whether he makes value for a bigger one. 7f STO? Richard Pankhurst owner bred by Gosden's wife after she bought the dam from Juddmonte as an unraced 3yo in late season. Gosden then got a win with it as a 4yo. Presumably Gosden can get a free covering by sire Raven's Pass and the project is going fine. RP about the best in the PRev and fit enough for the day. Solid size and strong build and moves ok. But, as with many Gosden debuts, too daft to put in a competent run to compete to win as the Vibes and Hype had convinced a lot of people would happen. Green in the p[relims and a bit heistant in the race but still produced a good effort before folding back late on. Much prefer following RP STO than Epithet. The five who finished 5th to 9th all have prospects to be 75+ on some combination of bulk, size and movement. Arc Cara a medium one and gree atthe start but move quite well through the race to get to 4th before fading back a bit. Ok for 75. Dark Profit another example of where a jockey's decision and method stood out when usually you can ignore them as ok. Baker noted hauling Orobas miles out of the race at WDSR on the 26th and then some progress to midfield but that had used up whatever Effort the horse had. Exactly the same here and DProfit hauled back to end up adrift of the main Group. DP a bit green overall in the race and then hanging in the last 2F so unable to show what effort he might have. But a solid build and prob a better prospect han Arc Cara. One thought would be why if Baker doesn't want to get the best placing possible and just ride Educ Intros most of the time then why bother to ask for the early (pre 2f out) efforts at all? What does he think he is riding, Frankel's more talented younger brother? Shaakis the first season runner for Tregoning who does front-load so should be a usable one. But, trainer's record in a long slide and hasn't converted a number of early starters in recent years. Shaakis underdone here and can improve ont hat but moving awkwardly at times in the race and inclined to need positive visible improvement rather than expecting him to be a point-and-shoot average maiden winner. Steady Major the slowest starter and green overall plus not fit enough. Given all of that a good effort in the race and solid potetnial to get to 80 or above. Faithful Creek more a 74-75 one and more borderline = Northen run STO? |
