SUMMARY
SGS from HVS on Decs.

Small field but a very mixed bag of types. Star Citizen bringing Appleby's STO record from 7 goes to 4 wins, 2 x 2nds and a 7th from Skygazer at NMKJ in a bigger field at 8/1. SCitizen a solid size and strong but too green FTO in a good maiden. Her SC looked more like Godolphin 2yos used to look on debut. A bit fizzy and sweating overall. Fighting the jk a bit when asked to settle in 2R. Then producing a sloid effort to go clear but looking a bit goggle eyed as if this might be the 'Peak' and hard to know how long he will stay near the summit before regressing downhill. Interesting to see where he is targetted next and how he presents 3TO. Clear win also a plus to help confirm the upside opinion of the NOTT maiden he ran in FTO.

Thumper 3TO after two runs where he has looked tubby, mentally & physically slow, along with other negatives. looking in much better condition here and tighter. Also needs a run that will definitely get a handicap mark and ridden prominently and getting an easy lead. A solid effort at his level before losing SC's tail before 1f out but clear of the rest. Usable 60s and seems to be brought along to Peak 4TO in a Nursery.

The most interesting questio around the maiden is what to make of the 3rd and 4th. Both expensive ones for major 2yo stables and are they Open Maiden class having been comfortably beaten by Thumper? Critical Risk a solidly built Medium one with some length and moves pretty well. A little bit green but the pace didn't put much pressure on him. A low level effort from 2F out but HnH from the jk and CR still going forward at the line and moving well. Stick him around 75 and see how he matches up STO when he should be ready to compete.

Mumford a bit shorter than CR but bulkier. On power then oughgt to be solidly 75+. The niggle watching watching this race is that he didn't stretch out in front at all int he last 2f. Looking ponderous or a bit ouchy/reluctant. Jk Moore got more urgent in stages and wound himself to use the Whip towards the last 0.5F but perhaps felt Mumford started to fade so put the whip down unused. Overall left the impression the horse produced less than expected. How much of that being green and a bit tubby? How much something more fundamental?

Fahey pair both llimited and struggling to be low 60s and different shapes. Douglas Bank small, neat and trundly and fading early again. Frosty Times a bit taller but narow bodied and underpowered in line. Seems to have a visible 'skipping' action and interesting to see whether that would work at SWEL when the suface there was on the 'tighter' side (not when 2yos are running 62secs+ for 5f).

Smugglers Lane looking green and perhaps unwilling in previous runs. Looking a bit more hearty in early race but then part taken back and part drifting back with the jk inactive. A bit green again when asked for an effort. But, unlike the Fahey, pair has the size to be 65+ so one to track to see where he goes next and the circumstances around 4/5TO.
