GGS from SGS on Decs. Rail out by 14yds at 6f pole down to 6yds at the Finish Line. Hannon website on Sunday = "...He [Peacock] is by Paco Boy, who has made a great start to his stallion career, and we run another nice colt of his, Smaih, at Windsor tomorrow night. We can see a lot of Paco Boy in him, and, though we are pitching him straight into a novice against six more experienced youngsters, we think he is ready for it." Just a middling Novice on Profile lacking any contenders to go on to compete well at highe rlevel unless Smaih better class. More of an early season Championship race for some medium to smaller early season winners lacking scope. The types that will find their place in sprint nurseries in the 70s mostly. A simple race shape with a close group of prominet racers of which AF dropped out tamely. The Hannon pair dropped in behind that group for different reasons and able to close up into the remains of the prominent racers to produce a heap finish. In line with a lot of similar types well matched at the weights. Third win for Justice Good which means he has already had a very successful season but doesn't appeal as one to go on to higher level. A5 here offsetting his 10-0 weight and showing a willing attitude, But a medium one and lacking scope. Trainer Elsworth very bullish about him afterwards and said he was surprised JG had got beaten FTO (ran green). As is compulsory after any 2yo win at present he was pressed about RASCT and suggested JG would go and 5f or 6f. How ready and ahead of the development curve JG is then letting him run midfield or bit better at RASCT on that hot-housing seems a recipe for pushing his OR to an even more unworkable level as the season develops. Smaih no different to the others in height but the best built. At the weights and against ordinary nursery types he really should have been able to win this FTO. He came close and if he hadn't lost 3L+ with a slow start and generally bumbling around in the first half of the race he would have done. Finally responded to Dettori's driving around Hf which meant he started his final effort earlier than the others and made the best forwad move running centre to challenge into the last 2F. Run petering out early. Has the most scope of these and running against thorough professionals. Can improve for more nous but getting weight here and looked 85+ here and not better class. Hazby a small ready one and solid build but another to lack scope. Has looked sub-75 and similar here. Ran a bit too free before halfway but another to see how he goes in nurseries. Liable to get high 70s (at least) given the record so far and the inflated early ratings/ Would need a below averagely early nursery to be competitive off that. Percy Alleline looked a poor favourite having got a bit lucky in a trundle on slow going FTO. Looked small and moving unappealingly for much of his debut win and holding his head in an odd position at times. Anothe rlower to mid 70s one and nothing to make him look like favourite material. Very fit here and neatly made but the niggles raised by his first run showed up here. Going from a very slow to a fastish 5F he didn't look to be fully handling the pace at times and working to stay with the others at times. But, a bigger problem was that holding his head uo and moving poorly and looking hesistant seems to be part of who he is. That got him in real trouble here where he was trying to race in a tight lane with pressing horses around him. A bit outpaced 2F and shuffled back. Then spending most of the last 1F not quite going fast enough to get into a gap between Doomah and JG. But head held up and left throughout that making him look scared if not unwilling. Might he look even worse in a real fast 5f against bigger horses. Doomah demoted out of the Al Shaqab colours and running for a Qatari associate. Had looked small and ligth framed early and Hannon had done well to get the early win with some sort of 65-71 one. Looks to have filled out a bit and in better condtion and might be ok for 70 now. Abscent Friends another one of the regualr chacters in the 2yo season with a Turner 2yo that was very fit from very early season and has run ok Conditions races but has already gone over the top. Ran too fee but a poor effort in the last 2F anyway. One to check for whether he ever comes back to form in later season but another who is going to start on too high am OR in nurseries when he was a low 70s one at best and can he run to that again? |
