SUMMARY
Limato bought by agent Doyle and reported in the Hannon stable in the 214 book. When did he move to the Candy yard?

Peculiar Race Shape with several 'things' going on and interacting to produce a non-standard way to get to the final positions. A slow pace but a very liekable performance from Limato in scooting clear off the pace despite running 2 Wide and hanging left at times on the bend. Also a good effort from Hawkesbury (Ryan Moore now also in the Godolphin camp) to get from 9th on the rail and 6L off the slow pace at Halfway to make good progress wide on the track in the HS.

Frostman partly answering the question of whether trainer Hughes has any usable ones. Running too free and also hanging on the bend but a solid effort before fading. Speed Machine given a quiet ride by Doyle and jk made a WTRB report saying SM/c hung left perhaps partly to cover the inactivity. Made ok progress late on to a Volunteer 4th but why the fading of the 5th back?, and why the long distances at the Finish?

Limato a bit fired up in the prelims and also in the race which meant he ended up racing too wide. On the plus side most of that fizz seemed to be wanting to dominate others and not cussedness which transferred into him putting everything into the race, willingly. Just above medium and solid build without being bulky. Natural, athletic mover. Which lifted his performance a bit above 'Good' and the last 1F kick looked something 'Different' at some level. A second debut winner for Candy in 2014 following three blank years. Before that he has been a very 'Ready FTO' trainer including with his better types. Both debut winners in 2014 not prepared by Candy fully with Limato having been in the Hannon (?) yard at least into April. Limato at least and 80s one and that later race kick made him look above that. Candy has a good record of getting subsequent wins with FTO winners and you would presume Limato will try a Group 3 at some point. Say the Sirenia back here.

In a good field in Paddock review Hawkesbury another above medium on and solidly built. But, in line with most of the Aplleby FTOs in 2014, he looked utterly clueless at the start including a period of running part sideways. Given how far back he got he made a very good effort in the HS and was just getting to 2nd towards 1f out and closing to the cruising Limato. But the jk on Limato let that one go at that point which meant Hawkesbury left behind having already done a lot of power output. More substance than his half sister who won FTO (possibly Zarooni specially 'powered) last year but lacked scope. Hawkesbury defintitely 80s and see whether the effort he made here is actually 90+. Also check how quickly he goes -over the top'.

Frostman ought to be 80+ on PRev and running a bit too free and also geen here. A solid effort despite that and perhaps more 7f development.

Watching Cole horses develop often leaves the feeling there is more going on than is visible. Speed Machine looked a solid 75+ development type on debut but with a poor attitude. Calm in the prelims here but seemed to be given a totally non involving ride by Doyle. Yes the horse hung left at times but in the HS that appeared not to be the problem as Doyle sat quiet with SM losing ground. Perhaps he had been told not to use the whip. When he did inside the last 1.5F the response from SM looked fine for 75+ and got him from 9th to 4th and not fully pressed. But still the question of whether the visible oddness in the races he has run is caused by trying to deal with SM's poor behaviour ot whether something else is going on.

Elsworth notes in 214 that Honcho is the 'Boss' amongst his 2yos and hence the name (Head Honcho). Some of that appears to show in his demeanour in his picture. Solid build but a bit on the smaller side and 72-74 range.

Just Because mentally dismissed after his first run and the trainer's generally poor ecord. 100/1 here says that view a very widespread one. But, in very good condition and while on the smaller side a solid build and looks usable. Another one to run too free and just a lower level effort 2F out. But, one to put back on the list to consider for Nurseries low to mid 60s, say.

Father Stone another smaller on with ok build. Too green here to compete but usable 60s of some sort. Mixed pedigree but prob 7f.

Trainer Stevens said in early season his 2yos were behind where they had been in 2013 because of the wet spring. He ran a feww in may then a break of 2 weeks from May 27th with no runners and just restarting this week. Next Generation not showing any promise FTO at a long SP and similar here. Smaller and a bit underpowered behind. Gives the impression of a known lesser one being brought along slowly for nurseries. Looking at Stevens' record is 2013 (his first year) he only had two wins before RASCT and those by a STO winner at RASCT and a later season Group winner. So, perhaps his performance this year just shows a lack of those standouts (unless Peace And War has zip above her size). Looking at his record last year a bit further he seems to need good ones to definitely become winners and no evidence that he can convert a lesser one like NG into a nursery winner.

Muqarred a FTO for Suoor but also looking underdone and not ready. Added to that a smaller and compact one with a quiet attitude. Ajtebi ridden (had been at YARM for Barchan) and Muqaared gormless in the race and the overall effect not helped by Ajtebi's 'quirky' style. Rushed up 2 Wide around the bend (typical of the jk) and too green to make progress in the HS. 70+ and ok strong but looks more a development project and one who will end up at BTON for STO.
