G from GS on Decs. Stalls Far Side. Baffling stuff on the day with £7.763 penalty value to the winner in this joke of a Class 3 race and £8,086 to the winner for a very poor, 4 runner, Class 3 Conditions race at EDIN. About time both courses had a think about the purpose of both races. Selling and Claiming races do not do the job they are supposed to in British racing and continuing to put up premium prize money for this Seller at YORK makes no sense. Low level race despite the Class 3 and little future interst. But, first two home racing alongside each in Leading Pair for most of the race and still duelling away at the finish. Jks on that pair holding their horses up from+1f and this caused a huge amount of problems behind with a lot of FFH and bumping forward, horses getting unbalanced and others squeezed or shuffled back as the fierce pullers wandered around held. A number of ok types in the context of this race seeming to ruin any chance in the maelstrom of pullers behind the relatively serene front two. Also worth noting that although this is supposed to be a flat and relaid track the usual amount of horses getting unbalanced and hanging. Why so much of this at YORK? What ae the puffs of 'dust' yuo see the horse's hooves bringing up on drier ground? Almost as if sand has been laid on the surface. Hooves going through a dru 'crust' and this assisting the getting unbalanced because the horse not feeling a solid surface on each hoof-fall? |
