GF as on Decs. Rail Fully in. Odd race to some extent and looking like a slower pace and Final Time for the conditions versus the solid quality of the runners on Profile. Despite that only the first 2 home seeing out the 6f fully and Geological the worst puller by some some margin yet still able to see the race out ok. What are the excuses for Popeswood, Town Crier & Faraajh? Geological good promise on debut if running too free and fading. Stil too free here and effectively held and fighting the jk to some extent for most of the race until inside the last 2F. Despite able to produce a solid effort to win. Seems to have a fluid & rhythmical movement in front. Still needs to settle & 80+ Steady Major too green FTO and still s bit green at times here. Notably when asked to pick up and follow the winners and taking a bit of time to realise what to do. Closing back to Geological at the finish. Solid size and 78+. Faraajh a bit smaller and lighter than Geological but 75+ and would have finished closer but for being cut up ont he rail by the winners just into the last 1f. Town Crier supported on his 2 previous runs but produced a disappointing effort 2F out over 5f STO. Up in trip here but on a faster course but more of the same. Seemed to travel ok to 2F out but then a moderate effort 2F out and the jk busy with the whip before 1f out as if he thought the horse was holding some ability back. Fading before the finish. Ought to be 76-80 ability on PRev but clearly has something 'broken', mental and/or physical, at present. Popeswood ought to be 70+ and completing a strong field for the course and not a 'Second Division' maiden type. Finished where he ought to have done on PRev in the group but, as with Town Crier, went from travelling ok downhill on the firm ground to not picking up inside the last 2F on the camber and slight uphill. Rolling around as if feeling the ground and an early fade. Typically no WTRB for a Channon horse but presume the trainer would say Popeswood didn't handle the track & going. 70ish and see what mark he gets for the Nurseries soon to come |
