No Watering since the 4mm after acing on Thu. GStick notably firmer readings at 9.5 Centre, 9.4 Stands' Side and a slower 9.1 on the Far Side. Wind now a Medium to Light WNW Wind = around 1/2 Headwind. Interesting Breeze Video for Franklin D given his sire known more for 8f+ developers over here. FD looking very netaly made, balanced and ready. At least medium and carries himself well. Strong in front, especially the neck although a touch too long. Tails away behind. Holds his head up and a bitt stiffly in the breeze but gets it nodding ok once into his pace (probably his own pace and not finding much if hustled). Seems ok and definite 75+. Interesting stories behind the first and last home. Richard Pankhurst owner bred by Gosden's wife after she bought the dam from Juddmonte as an unraced 3yo in late season. Gosden then got a win with it as a 4yo. Presumably Gosden can get a free covering by the sire Raven's Pass. The result being a fine looking colt and a Royal Ascot winner from a reclamation project. Meanwhile, in last the small and poorly put together filly Henrietta Martin was getting unsurprisingly blown away having won one of the worst early season maidens of the year. She is one of the endless line of owner/mates bred 2yos Channon seems to have cluttered up a fair section of his stables with. But, somehow he got someone to pay £70,000 for her at the new 'London Sale' at Kempton on the evening before Royal Ascot. Note to everyone for 2015, if you have anything, ANYTHING, with four legs and some 'form' (however poor) and an RASCT entry, then stick it in that sale. They'll pay anything to 'get a runner'. Field raced Centre Track with some Spread and the pace too strong. Nafaqa troublesome loaded and the last in and never settled and lost 5-6L on the break. Able to get through to a volunteer 4th without ever being anyway near 'the race'. Winner and Second both racing on the Stands' Side of the Group and in the last Rank at Halfway. |
