GGF as on Decs. Watering but no details given. 4mm rain Weds evening. Another race with a clear winner in Arabian Bride but how much of that down to ability and how much down to her running professionally down the rail in a very weak race? AB setting a slow pace and the only one running the rail so an Easy Lead overall. Looking like she just had to make a consistent low level effort in the last 2f to go clear with those behind limited quality. A solid build and prhaps the biggest overall here. But what to make of her in a Nursery off OR73? If the Nursery is Lower, Average or Better quality by Northern course standards? Also raises the question of what to make of Race 180 at CARL now the 2nd & 3rd have won since. A 'strong' race for the grade and under-rated or two horses from it finding weak races to win NTO? Is the race 'working out well' and following the 4-6th from it NTO (Ocean Sheridan, Monksford Lady & Miss Van Gogh) looking a good call? As ever, place the answers to those quaetions in the middle of the likely quality range for the moment. Race probably got easier beofre the start wiht What Could She Be an NR and joint top-weighted filly by Sales Price and a very believable 2yo pedigree at this level. Fahey's Why No Rein the most expensive male and ridden by G Lee. On profile has to be near the top in this weak race. But PRev showing him to be one of the smallest and notably smaller than AB, Also looking green and a bit of a 'mouse' attitude in the race. On size you would wonder whether he would turn up in a claimer/seller sooner, etc. Elizabeth Ernest a small one and pulled so hard LTO the saddle slipped. Ridden by the same A3 here and again pulling way too hard downhill. Then never balanced and hanging right in the last 2f but still able to get to 2nd before an early fade. Grand Proposal ran in the 2nd Division of the CARL race when AB was 3rd in the 1st Div. Didn't stay 5.9f there uphill & looking small. Ridden by an A% here & probably improved a bit but a similar relative distance behind AB at the line as at CARL.As at CARL a laboured and Head Up effort into the last 2f before the fade. Slightly suspect attitude? Would drop to 5f for a weak Nursery target? Hughes/ Blockley seem to have a lot of poor 2yos in 2014 and why would you ship two poor ones up to Hamilton for? Can't imagine the various shares on £962 they got for Lady Charlie finishing 2nd covered the expense for anyone. LC a small one but looking fit and competent in the race. But hardly moderate Seller Level form in eefect. Blencathra looking a bit bigger than LC but losing ground from before Halfway. |
