G by Race Time. GF as on Decs. 6mm Watering on Mon. Showers Forecast for the Day. Rail out by 3yds from 6f out to 1f out cut-away. Race Distance increased by 13yds. Slow Time for the Conditions and a race where racing prominently on the rail a definite advantage. Made more so by the slower pace. Overall impression of a field quality below average and not obviously 75 at the front. Also the feeling that there may be 1-2 better fillies than the winner. Disavow a MaJo 2yo stepping up in trip which often is a good move. But, the key here seemed to be the trainer's willingness to let his horses front run. Disavow getting a very comfortable time in the lead and going the shortest way round. With the others behind giving her a head start, running wide and not handling the ground, Disavow's effort 2f out popped her 2L clear. Even so the jk was getting urgent towards the line and would probably have been caught with another 0.5f. Smaller medium one and lacking scope. Given she gets OR75+ for this prob below averagely competitive in an averagely competitive Nursery. Likely to come back here. You sometimes sonder what is going on with the Channon thinking and they do seem to get a lot of wins by sheer persistence and running 2yos umpteen times. Euthenia the biggest in the field and solidly built. Ok for 75 in filly terms. A promising debut at a lower level in a lesser 6f maiden but staying on ok. A move to run in this sort of race over 7f looking a good move. So, why was she running over 5f on concrete STO on a fast track like LING. Never handled the goiong there and a poor run. Still a bit green and allowed to drop to last here. Looking a bit green or lacking the pace on a bend towards the last 2f and ending up making solid progress very wide. Getting close enough to Disavow late on to have that one's jk getting urgent. Fine for 70+ and some scope and looks like 8f fine. You're My Cracker a bigger frame than Disavow but lacking the solid build of Euthenia. A lengthy and rangy one that can look slow because of the time it takes to compelte each stride and trying to get long legs moving controlled. Ended up running 2 Wide overall and clearly worth marking her effort up just on that. Also looking like the ground was a bit too firm for her. Better than the result here without looking as promising as Euthenia. Better on a galloper's course but always a niggle that 'something' will always have a bit more zip in the finish. Perhaps later 60s. Elle Dorado a smaller one in the field and a bit green. Lacking a bit of pace at times and perhaps just less ability than bigger ones. On the plus side keeping her base level final effort going right to the line so stays ok and over 7f early. Not one to follow and 60+ perhaps. Super Quick a similar size to Disavow but a bit less length and power. Not looking a natural 7-8f one like the lengthier ones int he field. Racing 1 Wide outside Disavow throughout and prob a bit less ability than that one so always going to lose that battle. But, there seemed to be more going on and Hanging Right to some extent from halfway and probably on the worng lead but also finding the going a bit firm. Fading late but not proven non-staying given the hanging inefficiency. But mid 60s on size? Vita Mina mildly promising on debut in a sort of low to mid 50s/Seller way. Not to be taken seriously in an Open Maiden, even a low level one. Smallest int he field and despite having the advantage of running the rail always looking like the others were going a bit fast for her. Low level effort in the HS suggesting the low to mid 50s bit prob ok. |
