GF from FGF on Decs. 1.8mm rain Thu & Watering as 6mm Wed, 3mm Thu & 3mm Fri. Mixed story with New Providence's Breeze Video. Negative in the gather part looking poorly made. Gawky, weak neck and front and lengthy & shallow bodied to some extent. Still up behind. Looks better in motion and travels straight down the far rail and seems to using his range ok and balanced. Why the A5 FTO? Just pressure of meetings? Moderate race on Profile unless the newcomers adding some quality and despite the win for New Providence still hard to say they did. NP not looking bigger in the group and in last early because green. Seemed able to win just by making a willing effort and race pace not an issue. NP even above 70? or just finding a winnable race. Not a race to spend too much time thinking about future prospects. Worth noting thoughthat the win for NP was meant that 4 of the 6 individual 2yos trainer Palmer has run this year have won and some promise from the other two. With the exception of Aktabantay all owner breds or relatively cheap buys lacking size. Looking back at his first three years with a licence and this year's results better but solid efforts 2011-13 with the same hints of making a good job with the material he has. This the first FTO win for him and didn't look like a highly tuned one winning but a mildly green one with a competitive nature finding a moderate race. As if Channon wasn't involved with breeding enough small ones and equine 'greyhounds' his agent spent €75,000 on Zuzinia. Small and underpowered and struggling to win by persistence even in weak races. Some sort of low-mid 60s. Again more interesting to have a quick check on the Channon Stable. 2013 was the worst season they have had with 2yos sine 1998 and lows in several categories int hat period and Strike Rate that was moderate going on poor. A check on his progress to date in 2014 shows he is very close to the pace he set to this point in 2013. Only real quality he has run look to be Moonraker & Bossy Guest. Number of runs per season on average gone up in recent years and bredth of owners perhaps going down a bit. Not a 'decline' quite yet but some worrying signs that some areas need working on. Barry Hills taking over the licence for his deceased son John recently doesn't seemed to have changed the stable's runners appearance & performance viewed from the outside. Golden Zephyr having become one of those 2yos that look promising FTO for the stable but the career progression undure. GZ a bit bigger kit in this field and perhaps feeling the ground but outrun by little ones in the last 2F having got a softish time in the lead Surrey Pink a small short runner & no interest. Ceative Genius the only male in the field and typical gender split for later 5f lesser maidens. Costing 65k & looking a bit bulkier in a field of fillies without standing out. AP he needed his own handler, blanket & being hooded to go into the stalls. A little bit green early but running fine in 2R after 1f, Then around halfway perhaps slowly losing some ground by jk Baker just sitting quiet and letting it happened and plain never moved in the last 2f, His WTRB. report to the Stewards was the horse ran green. Which doesn't explain what he was doing in the last 2F+. Isn't it part of the jks job to try to organise the horse and at least get it going forward HnH and learn something. All it learnt here is it can pack it in and the jk will sit quiet and allow it. |
