GF from GFG on Decs. 5mm Watering on Fri. Negative overall Breeze Video for Call Me Crockett. Small & young looking. Short front legs and solid knee action and little reach. Too short neck. Slow Breeze if mostly straight. Fahey's SL Piece = " was delighted with Al Gomry’s first run at York as I think it was a good race. He’s definitely come on for it but I’m just a little worried that he’ll need another furlong before too long. There’s plenty of improvement in him though and I’d like to think we can turn the tables on Short N Sweet in the Maiden Stakes. He was second that day and we face him again here.". Fahey after the race notably down-to-earth to those interviewing him trying to talk Al Gomry up. Saying that it "..wasn't much of a race and he got the job done" and both Fahey & jk Hanagan banging on about how 'babyish' AG still is and how he needs 6f, at least. Fahey having a good day at the course incl winning the Plate. A moderate race on Profile given this is a 'Major' maiden on NEWC's biggest raceday of the year. 5f not helping and a field with no Southern raiders and a number of bigger Northern yards missing (Ryan, MaJo, for eg). Instead, a carefully selected Fahey one and a mixed bag otherwise.Al Gomry just a smaller mediuma nd neat one and just ok powerful. Not standing out in this group. Running competently despite all the 'baby' talk and assited by a number running poor races. Feels like a 79 one and always vulnerable to stronger sprinters. Trainer Ellison has never targeted 2yo racing but on th elist of a good trainer overall who can win with the 2yos he has of the right level. Had his best year in terms of number of winner sin 2013 but that stat a bit misleading since 3 of his 5 individual winners came to his stable having been trained and run for other trainers (2 came as previous winners). But, owner Martin seems to be more 2yo oriented & Ellison having 2 runners for him here and Martin owns the best 2yo Ellison has this year (Northgate Lad). Senior jk Eaves on Eastern Racer but Pickard with a long association with the yard on Gerry The Glover. Perhaps the jks mislead the Market? GTG the bigger of the Elison pair and a bit gree. Also a gawky neck and awkward looking mover. But, uses his range and willing. Perhaps assisted in running here by being off the pace and Stands Side. But a solid effort but prob just 70ish? Or better? Easter Raer smaler than GTG & a lesser effort. Leaving aside Shamkhani who lost grounf early and prob not happy on the going, the three biggest faders shared in common racing Far Side of the group & Racing prominenlty and doing a bit too much before Halfway. Classic Flyer a smaller and compact one but looking stronger built than AG. Has now run too freely twice and probably on slower strip here and hanging wider in the last 2f. 60s prob but one who could surprise when he settles properly (if, given O'Meara's record with not fixing Miss Mullberry). Bowson Fred a neat little sprinter type and size limited to some extent. Perhaps more lower 60s than previous toughts as season progresses. Looking in good condition but attitude a bit suspect. Running too free on the far side of the group here which looked a bad combination. Short N Sweet looking slouchy, not that fit and a down attitude in the prelims. Slow start in the race then made an effort against the pace to get tot he lead racing widest Far Side. A recipe, along with her presentation, which would seem likely to produce the poor run. How does she present 3TO? |
