Excerpt from the Brightwell Sales Report wrt Bronze Maquette, (note that their Ascot 2yo Breeze Sale was on April 2nd) = "Gary Moore has leapt into a far wider public conscience this year through champion two-mile chaser Sire De Grugy, but he remains very much a dual-purpose trainer – and clearly a romantic, too. After paying £40,000 for a Dark Angel filly from John Collins’ Brown Island Stables, he said: 'It’s my wife’s birthday in June – this is an early present.' Jayne Moore now owns a smart filly who clocked a very good breeze time. Her husband added: 'They tell me she will be ready to run in three weeks. I’m very aware that horses can be asked a big question ahead of their breeze, but she came from a good farm, her attitude was marvellous and she has been bombproof since she’s been here.'" The horse has been passed on to owner Green which suggests the 'present for the wife' bit was either a joke or Gary Moore's romanticism is easily trumped by a good offer to buy a horse. Entirely believable.

A weak race on profile unless Bronze Maquette was OR75 or more with the rest of the field either proven of lower ability or STOs with question marks after poor debuts (MPk & MGirl). BM bought at the Ascot (Brightwells) breeze sale on April 2nd so trainer Moore has only done the last 3 weeks of training and preparation. The fact that BM was able to win despite running very green suggests a central question of whether she was running away from tiring Garbage at the end or whether she has solid OR80+ ability. Didn't stand out in Paddock Review and green and 'over-awed' in the prelims. Probably best at this stage to see her as a zippy 70s type beating up on poor runners atthis stage.

Macarthurs Park didn't look straightforward or entirely willing FTO in a poor race at WTON. The endless tail whirling assisting that view. Pushed into running a competent race here by Kingscote and perhaps went a bit too hard. But fading around 0.5f out and perhaps some sort of lower 60s one.

The Hannons always used to send OR60s types, or worse, to BTON to try to win a weak maiden with those type of races here often full of lesser ones on the same plan. Flapjack, a half sister to MG's dam, being a typical eg and she didn't win at 2yo. But, a surprise to see MG here given that the ttrainer's rep made a report to the Stewards at RIPN that she was unsuited to the track. If she didn't like the undulations and ramp at RIPN why should she go any better on this cambered roller-coaster of a track? Looked a small and compact one in the paddock and similar kit to the others. At RIPN you could forget about the excuse made and suggest she was a small one with some cheap speed (unable to put a 5f race together) and not that willing once the going got tough in the last 2f. Similar here in travelling ok being the leader but then rolling about and not really picking up in the last 2f. But fading early again and no report to the Stewards. On the 'suspect' list.

Tommys Geal an ok size in this group and ran much too freely after a slow start. One to keep in mind at a low level if shows signs of competency. Please Dont Tease an ok size in an otherwise female field but awash with set and too fired-up overall. Narrow bodied and againt upper 50s and leak into 60s at best. Another to lose ground as soon as the efforts went in the last 2f and looked to be some mix of too slow, moving awkwardly and attitude with the head going up. Probably run in a seller NTO & check if he has settled down.

Aside - having done a year long study of Hugh Taylor's selection process for hius tips the view of his level of ability went down. Along with his resistance to examining his methods and adapting them. On the plus side it lead to a better understanding of the level of competence that gets classed as 'superior' in GB and also a driver to attend to cutting out the 'slack' from one's own methods. Over the past couple of weeks two of the GB Pundits (Taylor & Willoughby) have gone onto Twitter to indulge in mindless pandering to Biases to make anyone wonder if the 'Bar' is actually going down. Remember, that Taylor & Willoughby produced a 3 hour long programme fo ATR in late 2012 telling people to be aware of 'Confirmation Bias', Cherry-picking, Small Sample sizez, etc, etc. Then they resort to thse examples and break all their own 'rules' :-

In the same spirit anyone could formualte a Tweet to back anything up. Without even a trace of irony let us hear it for Agnes Haddock = "Blinding stuff @HaddockAgnes1, excellent use of the Lucky Pin and family Birthdates, an example to us all."

Funny, but never seen a Tweet which says something like a 'Fast Breezer' finished nowhere on debut. Or one at season end listing the ones that never even got to the racetrack because the Breeze Prep & fast time buggered them up. Nor about Derby runners-up who were left unsold because of a slow Breeze. Much the same with Sectional Times, audible celebrations when it goes right bit no examples of explanations when the Sect Times clearly analysed a race incorrectly. What went on with the NMKT Guineas meeting 2yo maiden in 2013 @Rowleyfile? As an example.
