Changed to GGF by 09:30am. GFG on 06:30am report but with 8mm of rain overnight and still to clear fully. Noting at that time that the going was expected to ease once the rain had got into ground. Stalls Stands' Side. A similar set-up to the BTON race on the same day. A thin looking field on those with previous runs and Mignolino the possible better one to win somehow from a wide draw by being a better type of debut for the trainer. But, smaller and mentally young in Paddock Review and ,unlike BTON, the pace wasn't strong enough to break the pacemakers up and allow the newcomer to win. Mignolino too green and lacking any different type of later race effort. Ko Cache a negative in PRev FTO and looked a 50s type. Unfit on debut and did show some pace before fading. How much does this win suggest the FTO PRev was incorrect? By some margin, but probably not by much. KCache able to control the race next to the rail here which is often an advantage and effectively only had to beat two similar small fillies racing wider, one on debut. Perhaps KC is 60s not 50s but this looked a suspect finish with a lot of lower level types unable to get out of each others' way at the finish. Littlemissblakeney a competent debut and probably headed KC in the last 0.5f but faded late on and caught on the line. Another 60s one? Low Cut Affair had won a poor race at WDSR LTO with a similar 'Golden Highway' easy lead up the rail. Racing outside of KC here and had every chance but fading after producing her effort. Confirms the view that her win perhaps not even worth low OR60s. No One Knows 3rd in the LCA WDSR race and an okish looking debut but an OR60s type. Ran a similar race here in racing away fromt he rail and travelling Ok before the final 2F out efforts went. But, started hanging left towards centre track which removed her from a possibility of winning. Makin A Statement seemed an odd runner here since he looked unready in condition just 5 days earlier on his debut and at a long SP. That was clearly a development run although presumably for some target 2 weeks+ away. Another who did show pace FTO but then got unblanced and hanging left (to the extent of the jk trying to pull him up). Similar here in some ways and comfortably able to attend the pace racing on the rail behind the winner. But, with a usable pace the jk/hrs had to start edging left inside the last 2F to find a gap to make an effort. Just and ordinary response once mostly in the clear and not able to reel in two smallish fillies. Again, looking like a development project and on the effort he showed still sub OR75. Bahango another on a development run having raced too Free FTO and then hung left in later race. Hauled back from a good break to tuck in on the outside with the jk trying to ensure he settled. Which he mostly did but then hanging left intoi Centre track again, and out of the race, in the last 2F. The Card Players trainer owned and given a non-involving debut. Green at times and (yet) another getting unbalanced and hanging left in the last 2f. Another suspect point for the race quality that these hangers were still in the 'picture' at the finished rather than dropped entirely. But, TCP had some size and strength in the context of this group so not one to discad yet. See if he looks any more competent STO and also if he has been sold on. |
