SUMMARY
GFF as on Decs with 36mm in the preceding 7 days.

Charlton on his Website on the am of the Race = "Captain Marmalade made the long journey to Catterick yesterday in pursuit of a suitable race with a Yearling Bonus added. He is a very tough individual who has not missed a day’s work since he came here. The form from his debut race at Newbury has been boosted by Adday, Kodi Bear, Marcano, Among Angels and Mustadeem. He has a group of very enthusiastic owners so I hope the long trip pays off for them.".

One question in relation to the Charlton quote would be if he has been working to schedule with no problems then - 'Where has he been for the last 47 days since his debut?' Hard to see that there haven't been a range of weaker races, incl £10k Bonus ones, in the interim?

Slow Time (?).

Inclined to view the race as one where the Pace was too Fast and only concerning the first 5 with the jks on the last pair early and at the line never trying to get involved. Leaving aside Snoway you could look at the Halfway to Final positions and say the first 4 at Hf going too fast and were close to reversing their positions at the Finish Line. With those closer to the Pace fading early one-by-one. Certainly some element of that but with some wrinkles in terms of Power available, how they handled the track and heartiness.

Easiest to deal with the last 3 at the finish first. Cerise Frith a small one and 7th/8th through Halfway on her first two runs. Both Hollinshead yard prob coming into better condition for their 2yos and CF turned in a free-running Pacemaker here. That mean an early stall and fade but CF having a big effect on the race and breaking up the usual cohesion and flow races have with less pace pressure. CF into the 50s? Short Runner at present.

With the stiff to strong pace the jks on Just No Rules & Jubilee Spirit allowed that pair to get well adrift before the Bend and not doing much to ask them in the HS. JNR the smaller of the pair and fading early. JS a bit bigger but bot looking that willing inside the last 2f and a poor response to the whip.

Snoway bigger than CF but a smaller one int he field. Not handling the course at times but a response late on the bend to hook up with STimes but soon dropped in the HS. 50s of some sort.

Captain Marmalade running too freely on the uphill section in the BS after the jk got him lit up after a wallowing pick-up. CM got to the lead comfortably in the HS as CF wilted early. On one hand you could say CM ran too freely and faded early and as simple as that. A wrinkle would be that he didn't show as much effort as expected 2F out even given the free running early. Just a low level effort and hanging left to the rail doing it. Similar lower & bulky set-up to Tachophobia and prob a bit more power. The likeable later race effort he showed on flat & straight course FTO not present here. Worth another chance on a less technical course but that flat effort 2f out a bit of a worry. [Does Charlton refer to CM's run in his 'News' part on his website? = Update 18:00pm 3rd July = Charlton Website quote = "Captain Marmalade was a little disappointing yesterday at Catterick he appeared to be unsuited by the course and he will step up to seven furlongs and a more conventional track next time."]

Tachophobia a shorter medium one and build looking better here. Up to 6f after being Midfield or worse in his first two runs and showing form STO by staying on past faders. Running in the Leading Line uphill in the BS here and, sensibly, hauled back out of that battle before the bend. But, stil close enough to the Pace and still making a much better effort than CM 2f out. Stalling & fading in the last 1f but showing a willing attitude when challenged very late on. 70+ but by how far?

Summer Times an owner bred for MaJo and no picture or video available. Which means until PRev it is very hard to know what to expect in Profile. Might be a small and clueless one that gets dropped by miles or an 80+ one and knowing enough to get involved. ST a medium one and a bit more length and less bulk than Tachophobia & CM. Small bits of not knowing what to do and not handling the track but always responding smartly enough to keep in the race and have the benefit of missing the stiff pace.

Even so, he seemed to do a fair bit more at 2F out than just plug on into tired horses. He closed on the front 3 so quickly it prob caught the jk out and by just inside 1.5f out ST was in a pocket climbing over the back of the others. Typically for a Majo lengthier one then a bit cumbersome in switching out wide and getting going again allowing Tachophobia to get a head start that ST could not quite get back on the downhill finish. But, he nearly did and credit for that. With a clear run down the outside 2f out he would probably have won by 2L. Seemed ok for 75.
