GGF from G on Decs. 22mm Rain on Fri & 18mm on Sat. Track Vertidrained the Previous Week. Medium+ Wind as a 1/4+ Headwind from the Right. Average Pace, at most, to beyond Halfway and 8 of 9 runners within 2.5L of the Lead at Hf. Worth Noting that with the field racing Spread across Centre Track the two who pulled Clear were 2 of the 3 racing Closest to Stands' Side (other was Smugglers Lane who hung left to end up finishing closer tot he Far Rail). Next Race also hinted at Stands Side advantage. Air Of York green but doing best of the long SPs once over towards the Stands Side having mostly race behind the winner to past Hf. Wonder Of Qatar doing best of the lower Draws and racing Centre Line of the Group. Are the 3 Drawn 1-3 really as 'bad', or far behind the others as their bas fades suggest. Need some real 'reasons' for them to be quite so far back at the finish. Race lacking depth and probably mid-70s at the front. Guiding Light bulked up a bit since debut and getting a sof ttime in the lead. Handled the course well and tried hard to see of the 2nd's challenge. First 2yo winner of year for Balding at a typical time now he rarely has early 5f types. Stables wins seem to be mostly August to September recently. Estatua a smaller medium and neat one. Ready type and willing but looks a bit below full Open Maiden level. Wonder Of Qatar not outstanding in the group and & favouritism parly reflecting the lack of solid profiles for the others. Rather than him being a better one. Narrower body and slightly leggy type of sire and the typical straight legged 'pendulum swing' in front. Middling power at most. Held back into 2R by Hughes and then taking time to get going 2F out. and a bit of hanging before 1f out. Eased early in clear 3rd. 70s of some sort unless some unusual zip. Harris pair running different races and both looking like they have bulked up a bit. Typical for trainer to build careers. Both showing enough in the context of the race 3TO to be on some sort of Checklist as they go and develop in nurseries. Arizona Snow running too free in front and then a number hanging left and moving awkwardly in the last 2f, particularly on the Far Side. Air Of Yorrk interesting because you could make a good case for him enjoying the uphill bits and struggling & losing ground on the downhill sections of the 'Barrel Rolls' at CHEP. Dropped to 8th then pulled himself back 4th on an uphill bit and also on the perhaps better Stands Side. Smugglers Lane at least putting some part of a race togethe and moving up from 2R after Halfway looking ok, But soon hanging left and losing ground to hide that move. Another on a 'not as useless as the form looks' Checklist. Town Crier seems to be regressing mentally and perhaps physically. Didn't finish his first two races off over 5f when some hype and backed to favourite. Moderate effort 3TO and looking as if the attitude suspect. Hustled to travel ok past Hf here but then finding little and hanging in the last 2f and worryingly unbalanced in the last 1f. Whatever ability he has not being shown as seems the case from debut. One niggle is that Godric a similar hanging and awkward moving fade on the Far Side. At least raises a hint of the grisly folds not being totally the horse's faults. Abba Zabba racing widest but got behind mostly because the jk hauled him out of the leading line to be last then sitting quiet. Similar lack of response to the other son the Far Side meant he soon got adrift. |
