SUMMARY
S by 16:45pm after 11mm of rain since 11:00am. G from GF on Decs & GS the Previous Day after 44m of rain in a Heavy Shower.

33/1 winner with an inexperieinced A7 on having been 66/1 FTO and looking to have a suspect attitude. How much of that Surprise down to Stec being better than the billing and how much down to circumstances and others issues? Mixed stopry and a 50-50 split seems fair. Things going better for Stec included getting a Soft Lead and an uncomplicated race which meant the 7lbs Apprentice was free weight. But, the horse has to take credit for having blossomed from a poor attitude one off the back early into a bright attitude trier. Stec also showing a notable Knee action and presumably, with nous as well, 7f on Soft ground on a flat track much better for him than 6f Down&Uphill on GF.

Seemed to stay best and produce his full effort which meant he was ahead of two horses at the line who both looked more likely winners at times. Stec on the Smaller side but this was not a 'big' field and big enough. He will get OR75+ for this Maiden win and likely too high in an average Nursery & will need suitable conditions & a weaker Nursery to be competitive.

Azraff just a smaller medium one himself but more strongly built than Stec. Had to work a bit harder to get from a wide draw to get to a prominent position and 2 Wide around the bend. Even so, alongside Stec from early in the HS and travelling much better towards the last 2f and the jk waiting to make the final effort. When he did the Head Right Azraff had shown in the HS (predictably) changed quickly to hanging left and not moving properly when trying to pick up. Which meant he went from travelling better than Stec to being in a battle with a horse already rolling along well on the going to whom he was giving 7lbs in effect. That and the inefficient movement a fade before the finish. Better than he showed if he turned the way he travelled into a solid pick-up and finish.

Here Now a smaller one in the field and probably similar size to Stec. Ended up racing last off a usable pace although did make some ground back in the CZ. Picked up ok in the last 2F but a bit of hanging left and close to the Far Rail by the times he headed Stec and lead overall. Didn't see the 7f out in the conditions and a late fade meant Stec went back past and the jk eased early to lose 2nd on the line. Size a negative probably.

Maraakib a bit like Azraff in travelling ok but then finding less than expected when the jk asked for the final effort. Yet another hanging left and moving a bit awkwardly and, in general, you wonder about the surface at HYDK in the relaid HS.

Kifaaya another dropping back 2f out and probably part green and part outpaced. Staying on again in the last 1f in Centre Track alone. Slow Stayer?

Robben low slung and looking a very bulky tubular body on shorter legs. Outpaced at 2f out and an early fade. Not moving his bulk yet and hard to get fit? On build grounds worth checking how his movement develops. Stardrifter looking the lightest made and a bit sweaty and green in the race. Too raw at present.
