G as on Decs & quote says that in agreement with the BHA the meeting would have to start on Going no faster than Good. 6-8mm Watering Wed & 4-6mm Thu. Stiff+ SSW Wind = 1/2+ Tailwind fom the Right in the HS. Solid pace with Kingscote on Don Sigfredo overdoing it a bit in front and 2L+ clear through halfway with the smaller ones behind already under pressure. Field came over to Stands Side in the HS by different paths. Race seemed to fall apart in various ways behind the front two who ran well and competitive off their opening OR ratings. Zebs Lad PRev as ok for OR65 on STO and despite the Stewards Enq. his career has a believable path. Quiet Intro then STO did a lot wrong running Freely, Hanging Left & Right. Ran a bit free from a wide draw 3TO and then it would be nice to knpow why he dropped back early but 'Green' seems the implication. Harris does have a record of developing 2yos to become competent racers in Nurseries and IZ doing that here. Only one able to sit in a settled S&P position and able to head DS by 1f out despite being hamppered by that one 1.5f out. Just a solid run and OR70+ would probably need a below averagely competitive nursery. This a weak early nursery. Don Sigfredo has a similar develop with racing path to this solid run. Early debut & STO and blew the start both times. A break then to a 3TO in the same BATH race as IZ. DS having to make a big effort from a wide draw to race prominently & not getting home. WHich was ok on return after a break on an uphill 5f. Dascombe stable in better form now. DS looking small but a solid build for his size and good condition. Running a touch too free in front and not quite seeing out this faster 5f. 68 looks a reasonable level in an average Nursery at present but has he the size & scope to stay at that level. Big gap back to the others with River Spirit in the 3rd place she probably should have been but looking a bit unwilling overall and only just ahead of the Garbage at the line. 68 too high for her average race wise anyway.Lady Zodiac, Foxtrot Knight & Toytown all small & OR50s for LZ & Toytown not usable and 67 much too high for what FK has shown. Penalty Scorer a too free-running short-runner in early season & the same here. Might win some weak AW race over the Winter if he ever settles down. Rita's Boy a disappointing horse and must try his connections patience. Lost a lot of ground early over 1st 2 runs but ok late progress over 5f. Up to 6f in a stronger race 3TO he ran ok for 5f then faded. Back to 5f here and OR75 a bit too high for him and 72 perhaps but 75 should be usable in this lesser early Nursery. But, back to running hesistantly from a wide draw here and the jk active for most of the race. Losing ground at times, hanging right on the bend, looking scared stiff when asked to go for a rail gap between the rail & the smal LZ then nothing happening when he got clear. From the outside he looks a problem horse with more ability than he shows but they haven't founf any fixes for him yet. The sort to check in the Market each time to see if the connections think he has been repaired or just gown up himself. Text of the Stewards' Enquiry Reports = "The Stewards considered the apparent improvement in form of the winner, ZEBS LAD, ridden by Steve Drowne, and trained by Ronald Harris, compared with its previous run at Bath on 6 June 2014 where the colt finished seventh of fourteen, beaten 14½ lengths. They noted the trainer’s representative’s explanation that the colt has been running green in his earlier races and now appears to be improving with experience. They ordered ZEBS LAD (IRE) to be routine tested.". |
