SUMMARY
G from GF on Decs. 4mm of rain during the 24hrs to 06:30am with further rain then showers through the day.

Fahey's SL piece pre-race = "We’ve two again at Leicester. I was surprised to see money for Johnny B Goode before his debut at Beverley. He’s a nice, fun, little horse but he went walkabout that day. If he keeps a straight line here he has a chance. Vimy Ridge is a nice colt by American Post. He’ll win races but could just need his first run. I wouldn’t want to split my pair here."

Kool Kompany not looking a full-on 5f type and a bit green. Hughes (2nd day back riding) scrubbing away before 2f out in 2R on the rail. No immediate response but gradually wearing down the front two late on and still going forward. Hell Of A Lord a different horse to FTO when he was too green to compete. Pinged the stalls and 2L clear after a couple of strides and able to keep going to compete to win until late on. Family trait to win S/3TO early in season and last sibling ran poorly in the same LNGA race on Debut before winning STO.

Grazed Knees the first runner for owner Fretwell and drifting in Market. Medium, at most, and giving trouble loading. Looks an early, sub-75, one getting going. Why the support for the Fahey horse? Haxby an early runner for Varian and has started with a FTO winner in last 2 seasons and LEIC an ok place to look for FTO wins also when it was the 'Michael Jarvis' yard and Varian the assistant. Haxby looking a small and ready one but typically competitive FTO for a 'Ready FTO' and front loading trainer. What quality is Haxby in PRev? = Picture shows a 'short, fat bloke' and a bit odd looking =

On the plus side he is quite bulky but his size seems to limit him to below a bit below OR75. Looking back at Varian's record in 2012-13 it is more heavily favoured towards 'Ready Debuts' than the Bluffers' Guide anecdotal view would think. 2012 = 12 individual winners of which 9 won FTO with another placed on debut and one in 4th FTO. He had 13 debuts which finished 7th+ FTO and they produced a single season winner. Blimey, very different from Mark 'Lost Debut' Johnston. in 2013 he had 9 individual winners of which 5 were successful FTO, 1 placed and 3 finished 4th-6th.The 12 debuts who finished 7th or worse did not produce a any season winners. If Haxby hadn't shown up as competitive here you could have forgotten about him for the season to a good approximation.

Hills on his Blog pre-race = "Lyfka has her debut over 5f. She has been coming along nicely and will come on for the run." Good of him not to mention she is as 'User Friendly' as a cornered rat. Loose in the Parade Ring and jinking around and dodging those trying to catch her. Gave a lot of trouble loading and pulling away. Including while hooded and shook the hood loose which had the loaders scattering. Hasn't John noticed she's a nutcase or is he going to tell us she's a 'lamb' at home. Oh, just run her and see if they can get on top of her. Mighgt be ok for 60s if she behaved, and was with a better trainer.
