GF from F on Decs. Watering but no Details. Vertidrained since the last Meeting. Not s trong Maiden and front of race into the 70s with Latch On Blue around 75. Stalls Far Side & Leading Pair of LOB & Monksford Lady forming up on rail early and setting a solid pace which was just usable for LOB & too fast for MLady. Latch On Blue a Smaller Medium neat one and finding a winnable Northern Race here and the Hills stable regularly send horse North. LOB around 75 and see how the Nursery looks NTO. More interesting is to note the 'Shape' of the Hills stable winners and how the stable builds into 'Form'. In his first two seasons Charlie Hills had 4 wins before July and all the 2yos involved ran at Group level at some point. From some time in July onwards the wins became regualr and the leading edge of wins included horses who had debuted in early season and were winning on 3TO+. Not such a clean June/July break this year but the same general shape showing up. He has 2 wins in early May this year one with a ready 5f sprint filly he might develop through Nurseries to try Listed level and a FTO win for Hamdan Al Maktoum. His next win came on June 26 with Magical Memory finally wining 4TO and goes to the Supersprint next. This his 3rd win the last 4 days with a debut win for a Breeze-Up Buy (untypical prep overall) and a 3TO win for early runner Mary McPhee. All looks onschedule. Short N Sweet one of a trio of Free Runners int he race who mostly settled helped by a Leading Pair setting a solid pace to Drop In behind. SNS looking low in condition LTO, ran too freely and prob on the slower part of the track. Which added up to a poor run. Back to her proper level here. Trapped in behind the leading pair in the penultimate 1f until MLady stalled and an ok effort then to chase LOB & fading late. Splayed action front and doesn't appeal as much over 70, if that. Bahango a regular puller and that has limited him in 4 previous runs. Hooded here and dropped in and mostly settling. Just a low level effort overall and not neatly made. Tend to think [Est] close to his ceiling unless she can develop his efficiency further. Poolstock the 3rd of the free runners who were hauled back to sit behind the Leading Pair. Hauled back most and XB to the rail. Mostly settled and hinted at moving a bit awkwardly in front after 2f as the pace upped a bit. Blocked in the stack on the rail 2F out but already driven along when a gap came and just a low level effort before definitely moving awkwardly in front and fading. One problem fixed & another pops up and perhaps the going too firm. Monksford Lady an ok size in the field and seemed to race mostly settled. But, stalling and hanging before 1f out and an early fade. Ought to be usable 60s somewhere but neds to race more controlled and show shecan finish a whole race distance off. |
