SUMMARY
G as on Decs despite 2mm of rain overnight. Further rain forecast for the day.

Fahey SL piece pre-race = "We're double handed in the Ripon Maiden Auction Stakes. Realtra ran a blinder first time and did everything but win. She’s a winner without a penalty but this is a bonus race and tougher but she should go very well again. Bahamian Sunride is a homebred owned by Mel Roberts. While he’s ready to have a go, he’ll improve for the run and I’d be surprised if he beat the filly."

Halfway to Final positions tell the story of a strong pace which put pressure on everything in the race so that the only 'Closer' was the horse who raced most settled and most comfortably in the 2R in Realtra. She was staying on well in the final 0.5f. Alaskan Wing smaller than Sarista and just a zippy 'cheap speed' one? Faded early although trainer's runners tend to improve to STO.

Long Photo Finish wait with Sarista taken on by Alaskan Wing from early on and pair going too stongly in the lead. Realtra in the middle of the 2R of 3 chasing them and niggled along after 2F as if she couldn't have gone with the leading pair even if asked. Sarista had seen off AWinf before 1 furlong out and bound to stop at some point befoe the line. Realtra able to plug on from 1F out to probably head Sarista just befoe the line but lose out on-the-nod.

Usual excellent & down-to-earth stuff from David Barron when door-stepped as the photo announcement made. He said his filly had gone too strong in front and if she had been able to keep that pace up she would be Royal Ascot material. Codger Cooper fell straight into the 'Ascot' reference and asked whether Barron thought she was that good. Instead of blustering about a 'Nice Type', 'done all we have asked her too' & 'perhaps dusting off the Topper 'n Tails' Barron said "She's a quick little thing, will win things early in the season." Making it clear what he thought rather than getting drawn into the media nonsense.

Reassert has run at the course and in maidens which suggest he should be usable. A bit green and unbalanced on the track FTO and probably a bit worse in both depts here. Never going forward or balanced. On to check how he goes when presumably tried on a different track 3TO.

Bahamian Sunrise looking a low to mid-60s Nursery project and too clueless and perhaps plain to slow to compete in this fast-pace race.

Arcossi look a small neat one as a yealing and size limited and doesn't seem to have grown much. Overall, the FTO SPs are a moderate guide to how good the Duffield 2yos are but this looked a lesser one at the 'right' SP range.
