SUMMARY
G from GFG on Decs. 14mm of Rain on Tue following 8mm watering on both Mon & Tue.

15p/£ Rule 4 Deduction.

Somewhat confusing race in VRev. Race run in 0.87s slower than Div II and seemed a slower pace with a 2f+ sprint at the finish. One item causing the confusion is that Pivot Point has looked a 60s Nursery Type in 2 runs so why is he in a pair pulling clear in an Open Maiden? Which raises the suspicious point that he got an Easy Lead running along the rail. The 'Easy Lead' clearly helping his Final Position but what about a Rail Bias?

The Rail Bias idea gets stronger when you look at where Punk Rocker ran. Despite the draw a Slow Start saw her at the back and crossing to the rail. Then making ground to the slower pace to be sitting in 2R on the rail behind PPoint. Which means the first two pulling clear the only two who ran the rail for most of the race. Inclined to think that Punk Rocker & Pivot Point are both below 75 by some way and this result misleading to read literally.

Given the confusion not that sure how much Promise there was in some other runs versus a lesser pair assisted by Pace/Rail bias. Also, Honcho running much worse than expected and, especially if there was a Rail Bias, Olympic Charm running better than expected. A race to see how the overall view on the Shape develops with Subsequent runs.

The Rail Bias idea gets further support from the runs of Cool Strutter & Big Bear. Cool Strutter prob sub-75 to some extent. Going ok to 2F out but then a bit green and not picking up. But, suspicious that he found his stride better and started making progress when going to the Rail towards 1f out. With that bit of Magic Carpet(?) to help then making ground on the leading pair in the last 0.5f and might have won with another 0.5f. CS a 70+ one?

Big Bear the first 2yo runner for a new trainer who hasn't worked for any trainers who know how to prespare solid debuts. BB the greenest on show and losing ground at various points. But looking a reasonable size and might be 70+ usable. Having dropped back after Halfway mostly expecting him to disappear never to return. But having crossed to the rail just before 2F out he finds enough of a Rally to get to 7th before a Fade. 70+?

Duke Of North racing wide of the Rail throughout and seemed a solid effort in the last 3f given that without looking 75 level, But will Peak STO for a reliable trainer.

Olympic Charm adding to the mild confusion because running well and widest from the rail. Made a solid move to 2f out and an effort that took him clear of the wider runners (1.5L ahead of DoN for eg). Fade int he last 0.5f hid that good work. If trained by Hannon clearly on the positive side of the list but trainer Shaw has such a poor record hard to know what to make of OC running a solid race. Running a Bblinder given the preparation and help the horse has received is a possibility.

Which leaves the final confusing point of if this was a slow pace and the front 2 pulling clear 60s, and even a Shaw 2yo can make a forward effort - then what were the other 4 at single figure SPs doing with all running poorly?

Honcho going fine to 2f out but then a bit Head Up and not picking up and Jk resorting to a strong whip indicated the horse producing less than expected. Moving a bit scrabbly in front for the last 1f+ and inclined to think some sort of issue and ignore the last 2f of this run if he gets fixed.

Francis Scott Key also a bit Head up and not responding but from soon after Halfway and less interesting than Honcho. Both Explain & Bickershaw also seeming to get dropped in the last 2f+ because not moving well to add to the other two. How much of that 'looking' for excuses? Explain more interesting to check development with Bickershaw looking a lesser one in PRev anyway.
