G from GFG on Decs. 14mm of Rain on Tue following 8mm watering on both Mon & Tue. Unexciting Breeze Video from Saltarello and a late debut having been entered over 5f in earlier season. Looks a medium size and perhaps atouch narrow (sire typ?) in the Video. Negative point seems to be his action. Medium Fast one but no range & relatively straight legged. Some scuttling going on. Not pressed to full speed in the breeze though. Hard to link up the final positions in this race with the Shape of Div I. That field raced down the Rail throughout and the 1st & 2nd home ran the rail as did the two who made ground or places in the last 2F. But, that field finishing relatively well packed at the finish compared to the long distances here. This Div a faster time but by 4-5L and the first 4 home in Div I would be in the Gap between 2nd & 3rd here. This field raced well off the rail for the first 2f then Westhoughton took then to the rail after 2f. Sectional Times would be useful here to compare the two Divisions. What effect did racing off the rail have? Were the first two home here better Class ones who ran a faster time than Div I by strong finishes off a slower pace? Or by surviving a faster pace that the lesser group behnd here? Why did Kassbaan & Yorkshire Dales run so poorly? etc. Post full VRev = Inclined to read this as a Slower Pace than Div I and with a wider range of abilities on show. With the pace being upped soon after 2.5f out a longer later race Effort here. That seemed to spread the Abilities out correctly by the finish. Fox Trotter a smaller medium one and a neat one. Racing widest here and travelling comfortably to 2f out and a strong effort in the last 2F. Seems to have ability above his size. Dam has produced 2 x 90+ 5-6f types which adds a 'crutch' without really adding much of substance. 80+ and presume Meehan will try Listed+ next as is his MO. Burnt Sugar talked up by Hannon as being a physically bigger & better type than Brown Sugar who he won the Gp3 Molecomb with in 2013. Threw his debut race away by veering Left later race and 'fixed' here (if the Hannons can fix horses why can't many others?). Ridden confidently by Dobbs here and pulling clear of the others but seemed to be beaten by a better, if smaller, one. BS still a bit weak? and not showing full ability Hannon expects? 80+ & solid scope. Kassbaan 70+ and not performing to that level here. But a clear 3rd best behind what are presumably better types than him. Back after a break but still running way too freely as on STO. Given that a solid effort in the last 2f until getting tired. Saltarello never put inot the race and a voluneteer 4th. Some sort of 60s? Yorkshire Dales the clear 4th best in the race and running a bit too free. Made the 4th best effort in the last 2f but later race fade (again) hid that. Ought to be 70+ but not putting a competent race together yet. The first 5 home probably the usable ones and lesser types behind. Westhoughton another to have transfered from Burke to O'Meara after debut and presumably some falling out between owner & trainer. That move hasn't done anything to improve Poolstock. Westhoughton a poor run here given how much he had going for him. A soft time in the lead and running the rail most. But outpaced before 2f out by the better ones and a very early fade. Back to 5f? But a smaller and limite done in this group. Why No Rein a similar smaller one & No Interest.. Smart Stepper presumably too flawed mentally to be of interest but no entirely dismissable yet. Has twice before made it to the stalls and not run. Hooded here and at least got started although the jk looked nervous like he was sitting on a 'Problem' which could go wrong anytime with a small 'wrong' move. Prob just academic interest to see whether he ever gets fixed. |
