GFG by Race Time. GGF from G on Decs. Rail Fully In. Solid Pace with Kingscote on Sportlobster doing whatever it took to get to the lead on the rail. Since he was 3 Wide in a Line-of-5 after 1f that meant working too hard to get to the rail after 2f. That move did have the effect of forcing Buccaneers Vault to move out from leading on the rail and controlling the race to Lane 1. Which allowed Flying Machine to get back to a comfortable 2R on the rail and now behind a leader who has already done too much. Dream Approval running 3 Wide overall so no chance. Popeswood dropping back but ending up 3R on the rail in a faster pace race on firmer ground where running off the rail a big disadvantage. So, Popeswood probably able to be called the 'effective' 3rd at Halfway even though in last on the rail. Given what the others had been doing to soften themsleves up by that point. |
