SUMMARY

Weak race on Profile unless Hannon newcomer 75+. Strong pace with Howlin'For You running freely into the bend and stretching pace around it putting a number under pressure to keep up and run the bend competently. Pressing pace meant the first 3 through halfway fadin in last 1F and setting themselves up for a Closer (tight bend & short HS mean prominent races often hold on to win off a usable pace). Dittander ok for OR75+ in PRev and an upright, ok range type of sire. Leading Line to the bend but then hanging left and losing 2-3L. Hughes, unlike a range of other jks, didn't panic at the hanging and, gave Dittander time to get balanced herself. Railing well into the HS (learning quickly) and able to produce enough of an effort to head the smaller fillies who had softened themselves up by 1F out. Dam developed well with racing and see how Dittander goes. Ar Colleen Aine 4th in a weak race on debut and PRev and run here seemed to confirm her as sub-70. Produced an ok effort in the HS at her level but a small one. Trainer Channon not really got going with his 2yos but this the first STO looking to be snapping into their shape. Howlin'For You the second Fretwell FTO for trainer Brown on two days. Owner targets 2yo racing and getting horses highly rated to be sold on. A poor 2013 for the owner with just 1 winner from 11 individual 2yos. Still liked to have them competitive FTO and the sole winner was successful on debut (4/1) and 4 others placed FTO at between 3/1 to 8/1. HFY looking sub-70. Kodestiny ran a bit better than the final result but at a low level so not worth noting in RN. Another small one and usable at a low level. Travelled ok into the HS at the pace set and bumped ACA when into the HS when trying to switch out for a clear run. Then got squeezed out towards the last 1F when in the gap between HFY & ACA as they rolled together to close the gap. John Gallagher's record with 2yos was very poor until 2011 but has improved it a little in 2012 with just 4 runners each year. 2013 saw two individual winners from 4 runners with cheap OB fillies. Both had lost debuts so the clueless effort by Amber Crystal not a surprise. She is a full sister to Dark Crystal who won a claimer for trainer/owner in 2013 and AC looks a better physical type. AC one to keep a track on how she develops.
