GS by Race Time. S from GF on Decs. Stalls Stands' Rail & Field raced off the rail to past Halfway then field starting drifting LH with the Winner finishing on the Far Rail. 1f Times :- 1st 1f = 14.93s 2nd 1f = 13.16s 3rd 1f = 12.72s 4th 1f = 12.25s 5th 1f = 11.84s 6th 1f = 11.27s 7th 1f = 12.81s. Slowest of the three 7f juvenile races on the Card and a slower pace as shown by the Sectional Times for each 1f getting progressively Faster for the the first 6 x 1fs. The last 1F includes a climb to the final plateau and the horses slowing down lateon. Also not helped by the diagonal running. Whish is fine but raises the questions of how did the 5th & 6th through halfway end up finishing 1st & 2nd if this was a Slow Paced Race with an around 2f Sprint tacked on at the end? The first part of the answer is that both When Will It End & Vegas Rebel made Notable ground in the 5th 1f (-3f to -2f out = Creep Zone = CZ) out. Both making 3-4L and WWIE joing the Leading Line around 2F out as the others making their effort and Hughes able to wait because WWIE could match their efforts at the pace he was going. He then kicked 1f+ out to make the break. The Second Reason is because the OR marks are Wrong to various Degrees. Most Notably WWIE is a bigger & better horse than stablemate Power Play and you would be closer to reality if you swapped their two ORs around. Which means WWIE wellin and winning as he would in a level start 2f sprint. Power Play running ok and seemed to be staying on again after getting a bit unbalanced on the climb. But, OR81 too high for him in a solid nursery. Vegas Rebel on the right sofrt of OR level and made 3-4L in CZ to be arounf 2L behind WWIE & the Leading Line 2f out. Made his effort immediately which meant he made a bit of ground on WWIE before that one made his final effort towards 1f out. VR not quite staying but running ok to his level. The Third Reason for the Halfway positions part reversal would be that the 2R through Halfway of Disavow & Burtonwood running poorly to some extent. Disavow a smaller one in this field and OR80 too high for her in a solid Nursery. Beating a weak field (placed horses OR57 & 64) having had a Soft Lead LTO didn't prove OR&^ was correct for her and 4lbs rise suspect. Disavow never looking to travel smoothly here but an ok effort 1t 2f out before and early stall, hang & fade. Burtonwood up to 7f & OR84 looking too high although the horse fully fit and looking in ok conditions. A short an bulky one and noted not moving well in runs before. Travelled ok to the Slower pace here but a low level effort 2f out and moving stiffly & an early fade. Perhaps not staying but something else not right with the movement. Big Mcintosh has the bulk to be OR65 but another who doesn't convince as an efficient mover. A bit upright in front and not stetching out, a just 'ok' effort off a soft lead here and not fully seeing the race out. THis not a strong Nursery for a Class 2 at Newmarket but BM would presumably look better as a higher weight in a weaker Nursery. |
