GF as on Decs. Medium WSW Wind = 3/4 Headwind from the Right. Negative Breeze Video for That Man Of Mine & the £30k price looks a punt on his frame coming together into a usable horse of a solid size. Very raw at present and a peculiarly shaped body with a gawky neck stuck on top. Legs with some range but movement not controlled. Which means he rambles through a slow & mostly unbalanced Breeze never get much speed up and a sympathetic rider treating him like a school dunce and rewarding him for the mildest semblence of progress. Average Pace for 1st 3f but Doyle on Harlequin Stiker finally fully XF+2.5f then stretched his lead to 2.5L by half and a gap back to 3R pair & Midfield+ 7L+ back without there being a strong pace. Misterioso & Big Chill the Big Ones in the field and both making smooth/comfortable progress in the CZ and then solid efforts in the last 2f for less than full asking. Misterioso because in the lead at Own Pace & Big Chill because give a ride to get 2nd and not to fully test him given the jk pesumably thought chasing Misterioso having given that one a head start not best use of BC. Misterioso will presumably go Listed+ NTO. Big Chill a definite 80+ and has never really been fully 'let go' late on in a race. But a bigger & bulky one and scope to develop. Harlequin Striker a smaller and neat one compared to the first two and relatively easily picked off by them. Only just a bout staying 7f on this stiffish track. 75+ Nurseries? Gea And Tea more promising than the Distance Beaten would suggest. Given a Teach-to-Settle ride for the first 3.5F+ and then green and hanging left and unbalanced from 2.5f to 1.5f out. But OK progress HnH after that to just nick 4th late. 70+ at least and better than the result here. An expensive one for trainer Eddery and interesting to look at his split of Sales Prices to Winners-Non Winners in his first 3 seasons. 5 of the 8 horses who cost 10k or less have been season winners (in line with his good record with small/smaller ones peaking S/3TO in Auction race). The 6 who cost between 10-20k have produced no 2yo winners along with none from the 3 wt 20k-40k. An odd split. His other two runners this year both won STO in Auctions having cost £5.5k & 13.5k, Golden Wedding a similar height & frame to the first two but narrower body and less well made. Running a touch to free having been drawn widest near the Stands' Rail and working to get a prominent position. Ran a fair bit better than a distant 5th sounds. Being in the leading line with Misterioso & HS 2f out having had to work harder to get there. An earlyish fade but still a clear 4th 0.5f out. 70+ and an ok return run off a break. Servery clearly the Hannon 2nd String and a smaller one. Given a quiet ride early to drop into Midfield+ but asked soon inside 3f out and a solid low level plugging on until fading. Looking at the result shape his place in 6th marks a Boundary of some sort with an interesting group of 70+ upwards in front and mostly uninteresting ones behind. Servery being some sort of 60s and Hannon will presumably target him at lesser track maidens S-3TO? With Barry Hills now back training the obvious more interesting pair in the last 7 home are Wolf Of Windlesham & Moonadee. WoW low slung and a bit oddly shaped but solid build and seems to move ok. Has worn a Shadow Roll on both runs (unusual for the trainers) and still looks a bit green and cumbersome at times. Not really put into the race here and hampered around 2f out which stopped him showing his effort. Seems to be being brought along as an 8f Nursery project. Moonadee another bulkier one in the ruck as you would hope for having cost €110k. Looks a very difficult horse to deal with on the track and presumably at home as well. Green and a fizzy/frazzled attitude leading to a horse a long way away from professional. Too fee for long period before halfway here then Head Up and never getting balanced & going forward int he last 3f. But, has the bulk to be 70+ so trak whether Barry H. can fix him. |
