SUMMARY
GGF from GF at 06:30am after 9.4mm Rain overnight with more Showers forecast. 2.2mm Rain Fri. Watering as 6mm Tue & 8mm Thu.

Wide Variety of Abilities, and shapes & sizes, in the race. Unusually for a Godolphin jk, a decision made at the start of the race made the difference between Pasticcio winning and not winning. Since Kirby was riding & not Barazalona etc. then the jk's decision to bounce out from a Wide draw & get acoss to the Rail for a Comfortable lead more understandable. Flop out of the stalls and run up the Centre of the Track or wider has been typical in the last 2-3 years.

Pasticcio looking a medium one and relying a fair buit on his range and movement rather than being powerful. A mixed bag of 4 away from the rail at Halfway with Pasticcio attended by the small and limited Striking Stone with the bigger & bulkier Al Bandar next out then the small (but ok build) New Brunswick running widest. Pasticcio had lloked a neater one on debut at BTON and bigger than SStone & MB here. Around 75. Will get a higher OR because of the connections and not looking one to follow in a better Nursery.

Unusually it was the Hannon set-up that produced the horse having issues and an indecisive jk that lost a race he might have won. Al Bandar a fast start from a Centre draw and Hughes starting to switch right ealy to go to the rail. But, felt AB starting to pull a bit so quickly switched into 'Teach to Settle' mode and hauled him back instead. Hughes clearly a high class jk but he can seem to be obsessive about preventing pulling with 2yos to the point of forgetting what's around him or how far out of the race he has got. AB ended up in 2R one wide but the horse still pulling and Hughes couldn't hold him and got pulled up to Leading Line 2Wd (off the advantageous rail). Given the pulling, AB then making a got effort in the last 2f and seeing out the 7f fully. Getting to Pasticcio close to the line and ahead of him soon after.

Looking back to AB's debut notes and he got criticised for being too sleepy and poor movement. One of those gone here and did take a bit of time to get rolling in the last 2f but staying on well. Coat not fully there here and can develope further. Later 70s into 80s prob [Note, this VRev done as as part oc catching up the Day before AB's 3TO run at CHES. If that races proves to be a regular on at CHES where running smoothly & prominently & close to the rail a necessity then will AB look a bit boaty/clumsy? Run a bit free and get hauled too far back? Allowed to dominate in Front? Need a Pace War of some type to stay on into later on?

Swaheen a medium and bulky one. Bigger and better built than NB for eg but shorter than AB. Widest draw and went wider on the break. Runing a bit green overall and widest from the rail. Given that a solid to good effort in the last 2f. A typical Stoute debut in being a bit underdone in line with his POOR debut record. But Swaheen will presumably be at Peak STO and ok for mid 75+ without looking 80+.

New Brunswick still looking smaller in the group even if in good condition. Slow break then running too free before halfway and away from the rail. Hanging left and just a low level effort 2f out and clearly delivering less than the jk expected. Jk picked the whip up 1.5f out but put it down again as he presuamably though the horse would just hang worse. Gave NB a light tap 1f out and the horse did hang left so the jk effectively eased the horse after that. Given his size and the issues here one to let go and lump it if he does end up being 75+ if he gets fixed.

Grim Fascination with Moonadee continues. A 70+ type at least on bulk but looking a too fizzy, green and dificult horse in previous run. App jk here and clearly this was being used as a 3TO ride with no aim beyond trying to get Moonadee to behave. Slow start and allowed to drop on the rail 3R. Mostly settled but then having to switch left (a complicated request for Moonadee) inside the last 3F to see if he could make some progress. A reasonable effot for minimal asking before eased and ending up wide on the track from the rail. An improvement and should be better physically than whatever OR mark he gets.

Amadeity the shortest SP of the Hughes trio at 50/1. Beaten a fair way in a Volunteer 4th but since he was a little adrift off the back before Halfway he must have been showing some ability in getting to 4th via centre track whilst hanging left. Needs a PRev check. Prob a bit bigger than NB.
