Stalls Centre. Field raced centre and an average or slower pace. Messy race in the last 2f sprints but appeared that the best two horses in the first two home. Escalating the biggest frame and again got to the front and looked like he would be able to control the race as he had on polytrack STO. Had AF & MR niggled along for pace by 2F out and able to put 1L into them without being asked for his effort. Looked to be going on to a workmanlike win for HnH until veering RH towards the last 1F for no obvious reason. Soon snapped out of that by bumping Kibaar and quickly back into his stride but not able to find his full kick again. AF able to close back up to him for full efforts from 2F out. Escalating seems able to progress further while Abscent Friends already at his peak. Trainer Hills said that Kibaar had run his debyt "back to front" (Fast Early and slow later). Dropped in to settle here and travelled well behind Escalating and better than AF & MR. Moved out to make his effort with Escalating and making a similar move and just about overlapping him when that horse went across hime. Got a bump but lost less than a length although then took a bit longer to get organised. Closed back by 0.5L+ on Escalating to the line but for a fuller ride and receiving 4lbs. Looked to have bulked up well from debut although still not racing fully professionally trying to be settled in behind. Another who can progress further and OR80+. Jk Hughes used to ride Zebedee in a particular style. Sit tight to the smaller compact horse and waiting as long as possible towards the end of the race to deliver a single effort that would gain 2-3L against the bunch of 5f 2yos he regularly faced. Seems to be trying to reprise that on Magical Roundabout and a smaller compact model and less good physical type to the first two home. Settled in behind but Hughes having to niggle him along before 2F out behind the bigger types and hinting at hanging right. When asked for his full effort he veered away to the far rail and din't seem able to match the leaders kick even given his hanging. |
