GF by Race Time. GFG from G on Decs. 21mm Rain Sat-Sun. Looking just an Average Pace and Midlander getting a reasonably comfortable Lead on the rail. But, the Halfway to Final Positions suggest a too Strong Pace with the first 3 through Halfway fading notably and the rest of the field being promoted forwrd by the fades and the 4th-7th through Halfway maintaining their relative positions but with a bit of stretching of the distances between them. But, two of the first 3 fading early with Midlander running poorly and Seamoor Secret a very small filly and running poorly LTO and just overpowered. The limited Dragline (OR up 13 from LTO) able to make an ok effort in the HS and still in a clear 2nd towards the last 0.5f then fading and overhauled by 2 x pluggers on who were never in the race at the sharp end. With Blazing Rose getting dropped by the turn to the bend the race betweem the 4th-7th the meaningful core of the Result. Kylach Me If U Can a low slung but deep fronted one in excellent condition. Managed to negotiate getting fom the widest draw to drop-in 1 wide in 2R to the bend without free running. Looking more professional and controlled than a typical Ryan 2yo. Handled the bend well and jk able to puch him to make progress using the momentum from the bend rather than restarting. Led by 2f out and an ok lower level effort. Winning a little comfortably but with the feeling that the race fell apart a bit. Off OR68 here which looked fine for the form he had already shown and good for him in his better condition. But, probably wouldn't want to go above 75 in a tougher Nursery. Flatcapper running off OR64 and 1-2 sizes smaller than KMIUC all round if neatly made. But a mismatch at the OR as earlier form shown would suggest. But, Flatcapper running a bit better overall than the final result. Held in the stalls by a handler and reared back and up as the stalls opened and lost 5-6L, Then hustled along to make the ground back quite quickly on the uphill run. Getting into midfield on the rail on the bend but outpaced as the pace upped downhill into the HS. Did manage to raise a low level effort to make some progress until fading in the last 0.5f. But OR64 looking too high unless he was in a Nursery where that was close to topweight. Looks vulnerable to anything with a bit of extra size and more natural pace otherwise and the jump in ability level between him and a eal 75 horse not linear. Stewards' Enq Text = "The Stewards considered the running of MIDLANDER, ridden by Joe Fanning and trained by Mark Johnston, which finished unplaced. They noted the trainer’s representative could offer no explanation for the colt’s performance. They ordered MIDLANDER to be routine tested.". |
