SUMMARY
GGF from S on Decs.

Stalls Stands' Side & Field raced Stands-Centre off the rail. Average Pace overall recorded but a Mixed Pace starting off with a slow 2f+ to start the race with nothing wanting the lead and a lot of runners held to some extent. Basateen in the Leading Line with his head to the right as held and eventually went to the lead still held. Average pace around Halfway but Basateen then upped the pace by-3 and producing an unusually extended Final Efforts part of the race. This introduced enough Pace Pressure into the race to drag the field out like a 'Time Trial' for the last 2.5f+. This also allowed Basateen to show something 'Different'

Basateen looking a bigger galloper FTO but held up in a slow race and making ground later on by staying on well. A bigger one in this field and still a bit green overall. Showed something different with how long he maintains his strong effort in the last 3F. A bit head up looking green but keeping that rhythm going relentlessly. Not quickening or zipping clear but a rangy gallop which took him clear and still going forward at the line. Effectively just overpowering lesser rivals here and hard to know what he would have found if challenged. Inclined to the view he would be better front-running and turning any race he is in into a proper staying test and not get caught up in a slower race with a '2f Sprint' tacked on. Looked a Group quality effort and 8f ok.

Mulzaam in the second colours for Godolphin and green in the final 3f when asked to move up & make his effort. Did ok given the inexperience and an ok size. But prob around 75? Digital Rebellion in the first colours and competent but looking smaller in this race context & no real interest.

Best Dressed a long SP on debut for owner Fretwell who is having another quiet year to date after a very poor 2013. BD presumably bought to be a sprinter but a 7f start here. Taller in the group and a bit narrow which fits with the 7f debut. Walked part of the way to post and a bit hed up at times in the race. Perhaps some attitude in the SP? Travelling 3rd best as he finished but looking too narow for 75 and 70 ish? & perhaps not straightforward?

Milady Eileen picked out by Fahey as the best for the day of 4 he ran in a 6f maiden at YORK on her debut. A poor run there. Looking small and overpowered here amongst colts over 7f. Didn't stay so presumably back to 6f but outpaced by the leaders here between 3f to 2f out anyway. Was she the best of 4 lesser ones on debut and hence the Fahey 'confusion'.

Hail Clodius apparently a Doyle pinhook that didn not work out so they have passed it on the MPR by some route. You would presume they, and the Hannon association, wouldn't pass a duff one and MPR wouldn't buy into a known duff one. HC just a medium one prob int his group. A bit geen overall but also given a ride in the first half of the race to ensure he did not get involved. Made an ok low level effort for little asking to work his way through the faders to a distant 4th then eased. Presume this was a 'Social' run and STO will be more targetted & ready. Looking sub-75 though.

Biting Bullets up to 7f after two runs over 5f and not looking/showing anything in those runs to think he needed 2f more. Ran a bit free to halfway here then asked to make his final effort inside 3f out. But just a brief ok effort before an early fade. Presumably back to 6f 4TO and a nursery? Hard to see what the reason for this run was.

Later Notes :-

Phantasmo looking a smaller one and a bit underpowered and finding himself in too tough a race FTO. Slow Start from the rail draw but onto the back of the Group ok. Pace winding up before halfway though and Phantasmo getting outpaced before halfway and jk using the Whip. Disappears out of the Video Replay shot before 2f out with Basateen turning the last 5f into a Time Trial. Phantasmo green here so getting adrift excusable up to a point but showing little positive in terms of Size & Movement IC before getting left behind. Didn't look like £48,000's worth waiting to blossom STO.
