GF as on Decs. Watering but no Details given. Mighty Zip sold at the 'London Select Sale' at KTNA on the evening before Royal Ascot began. A sale notable, from the outside, for some bidding that seemed more driven by 'atmosphere' than calculation or substance. MZip did a Breeze and the video shows a ready, deep fronted, compact length sprinter, if he's anything. Goes through the breeze ok without looking £280k. Te picture of him on the Qatar Racing website makes MZ looks less strong and bulky than in the video and just a solid medium frame despite the camera appearing to have been placed on the ground and looking upwards. Does look very 'set' shape that can strengthen and bulk but not grow much. Why start at THSK with Bentley riding? Normandy Knight sold at the much less precious and knowing Goresbridge breeze sale which is actually the 'Biggest Breeze Sale' in the number of 2yos catalogued. NK looks a shorter on with a bit more length tha MZip but deep front and solid build. Apart from labouring a bit on the uphill goes through the breeze fine and straight and still incontrol and going forward at the finish. Going at his 'own pace' and not getting hustled into over-trying. Looks fine if the size is actually at least medium. Colombia at the Tattersalls 2nd Breeze Sale (less 'Select') and looks a smaller and ready one. But has some length, ok build and moves ok. Although short does seem to flatten down and lengthen in motion. Has a fast stride and gets through 1.5f+ of the breeze before tiring. Usable, ready sprinter and uncomplicated type. Broken Race and presumably not helped by the long loading process. Wiseton sweating notably and taking off in the lead down the rail to set a strong pace and be 2L+ clear at Halfway, hanging left off the rail, with the field spread out a long way behind her. With Wiseton having hung back to the rail for the last 2f she had reduced herself to a walk before the finish despite hanging on for 2nd place. But the 'collapse' of the fornt of the race Wiseton made allowing a lot of Closing and VTLs made. With the other shorter priced runners finding issues of various sorts it mean Grey Zeb able to go clear for a comfortable win in the last 0.5f but in a slowish time and not having to run to his OR75 to win clearly. GZ able to run a competent race sitting off the pace on the rail, mostly settled, and wait for the race to fall apart completely. Aided by having the best draw next to the rail (in this instance). Issues behind included Mighty Zip having no obvious excuse and able to sit off the pace just ahead of GZ but fading inside the last 1f and tired late. Minor excuses in being mildly free early and sent on in clear 2nd (with GZ jk still motionless waiting).by his jk to chase Wiseton by halfway but a tame & early fade even factoring those points in. Didn't stand out for size in the field. Normandy Knight too green to get going from a wide draw nor hang onto the pace set and got well behind on the rail. Flicka's Boy also not looking bigger in this field and only excuse would be running away from the rail from the widest draw. An early fade and perhaps needing the run after a longish break. Star Cracker prob smaller medium but another with no strong excuse he was responsbile for. BUT, given a horrible 'Do not get involved' ride by the jk and check whether Steward's ask what Mulrennan though he was doing. Having hauled the horse out of the race after an ok start the jk faced with the problem of the race collapsing back into his lap anywahere. Which meant a tour of the course in the last 1f+ looking for horses' bottoms to run his horse into so he had an excuse for doing nothing. Colombia looking willing and getting involved but just plain small running amid the first 4. On checking the Stewards' Reports they prob had enough to do wit enquiries into the two WD horses. Jk Mulrennan did make a (arse covering?) WTRB report saying the horse was denied a clear run. Which it wouldn't have been if Mulrennan had put it into the race and given the horse some guidance rather then let it worm its own way into the race by accident. Jk Swift refused to ride Alfie Bond. Full text below. "The Stewards held an enquiry to consider why Dale Swift had refused to ride ALFIE BOND after arriving at the start. They interviewed the rider and the Starter. Having heard their evidence the Stewards accepted the rider’s explanation that he felt that the gelding had been unruly when proceeding to the start, was again unruly when attempting to re-saddle the gelding at the start, and had concerns for his own safety.
