SUMMARY
GF from G on Decs.

Field Raced Widespread across Centre Line in the HS. Average to Slower Pace to Halfway with the first 12 through Halfway in two ragged Ranks and Celestial Path less than 3L back of the lead despite being in 10th. Jk on Intiwin upped the pace a bit early by 3F out to put some extra Pace Pressure into the race during the CZ. Final efforts then seemed to spread the field out by ability.

Celestial Path the first 2yo runner of the year for Prescott. He notably Front Loads the competitive 2yos and also batches debuts up. The first set of debuts will contain 2yo types who will usually win at some point. FTO wins are uncommon and almost always indicate a better quality one winning on higher ability rather than debut tuning. All FTO winners will try at least Conditions level races and the majority will try a Group race at some point. Nearly all will win at least one more race.

A very good debut by Celestial Path in VRev. Green for the first half of the race and niggled then driven along having dropped last. Responding around Halfway widest in the HS and making smooth progress from the back of the field to the leading line ins-3f with the jk now able to sit wuite. Made the final effort towards 2f out and pulling a bit clear then maintaining a solid effort to the line. Tallest in the field and much taller than the medium+ Intiwin. Length and prob just a solid build and moves ok. Raced a bit Head Up here and poss just a bit green and looking around or perhaps just built that way. Winning by being plain better than the others rather than tuning and ok 85+ and Prescott should get 2-3 wins out of him.

Intiwin has an OR82 so sets a standard of at least 75+. Medium and IP length. Has run into some better horses in placing 4 times now but 82 looking a bit high. Better effort from him here with more pace pressure in the race than LTO in a 2f sprint at AYR. Just average scope or a bit less.

Dominada prob a bit bigger than Intiwin. Hauled back in the early part of the race and then taking time to pick-up before 2f out. Perhaps part green and some of SA blocking him. Staying on again in the last 1f. Prob ok for 75 and 8f.

An odd run in some ways by Swift Approval. Looking a medium+ height but bulky. Much more build than Intiwin, for example, as he joined that one towards 2f out. But having seemed to make reasonably comfortable progress from 3f out to 2f out just a lower level effort when asked to pick-up up. Left behind by the first two and just able to keep 3rd ahead of the around 75 types with less bulk. Staying on again a bit when joined by Dominada in the last 1f. Left the impression he lacks a kick and the pace he showed in the last 2f+ is the pace he has. Which would mean he needs a lower quality maiden to win or perhaps further. Perhaps the reason he is starting at 7f when he was bought as a more fast and now horse. The MPR blurb specificall stating he was bought as a RASCT/Gimcrack horse. Has the bulk to be 75+ and his dopeyness, as shown in the breeze, perhaps holding his performance down here. But, a niggling feeling that he may be a bulky stayer lacking a kick.

Water Thief looking a smaller medium and neat one in this field. A touch smaller all round than Intiwin for example. Ran a competent race other than a bit of hanging left as he made his effort. 3rd into the last 1f but then stalling & not seeing the 7f out fully. 70+ but suspect for 75 and probably a useful Marker horse.

Honeysuckle Lil a cheap one with no predigree but usable 60s promise here. A bit green overall but travelling 4-5th best towards 2f out. Hanging left and fading in the last 1f hid some of that. Ok size but lacking some build and prob not that neatly made.

Arcano Gold in the MPR 2nd colours and a smaller medium one in this group and not convincing for 70 on that. But, seems to have a problem with his mobement anywhere. A poor breeze because of never getting balanced. Here he seemed to get outpaced 3f out as soon as the opace upped a bit and hanging left badly with. So badly 1f out the jk nearly went out the side door.

Thewaythewindblows a competent run but smaller and lighter made in this group and overpowered. Kifaaya a bit green but a similar size to stablemate WThief. Not convincing as 75 even if you excuse the poor effort int he last 2f. Why the short SP?

Philba a more promising debut than the final result reads. An ok height in the gorup if just average build. Too green to put a race together but showed enough from before 3f out to 2f out to suggest he can be 70+. Made his effport as the pace upped 3f out and got himself to the leading line. Hanging left then fading from 2f out which his the earlier effort. Trainer a 'Peak STO' type so would expect Philba to be in a lesser race and competing well to win. Hugie Boy some mild size positive but sweaty and running too free here.

Pre Race Notes:-

Boldbob very raw in his Breeze video, both mentally & physically. Green and backing away from the breeze from the start and hangs left in stages to go from the stands rail to the far side by the finish. Pricking ears and looking young throughout. Physically a smaller one with some of the depth and bulk of a Verglas sprint type but not looking tight nor set. Also doesn't move like a sprinter despite some build hints that way. Seems more like a smaller and slower galloper with an action a size too big for him.

Swift Approval for a diffrent owner but another one of those deepish & bulky Breeze buys that Kevin Ryan end sup with and they often have dead Film Star names and do fine. Hot Streak another. Has one of that type debuting today for Qatar Racing at THSK (why is that one there and SApp at swanky YORK & not at the meat-and-potatoes course?). The Breeze video doen't convince that Swift Approval is another in the same mould unless Ryan can turn any of these chestnut ones into tough front runners anyway. SA a medium one but deepish and solid build but not convincing around the edges. Doesn't seem to go that quick in the Breeze and learning as he goes. When niggled along for more 1F out his head goes up a bit as he tries to 'lengthen' by throwing his front legs out further (rather than flattening out the whole body and control a complete reach - like a Tiggy Wiggy according to Hughes). This has the effect of showing he has very littl knee action (and prob means the pendulum 'throwing effect). Gets tired later on and his lack of range seems to show up and he starts short strding quite quickly. Hard to see him being another Bogart, Astaire, Blaine, Hototo (not Breeze bought), Hot Streak, etc, Prefer Mighty Zip to look more like that type on the day.

Having written the previous bit a quick look at the MPRacing website to see what heights the Sales Pitch text had reached - hanging off the TOP of the spire of the Empire State Building by one arm and waving at the aeroplanes, as it goes. Worth putting the whole MPR page text in and see how Swift Approval goes in this race...

MPR Quote = "Kevin Ryan King Of The Breeze Ups You couldn't fail but be impressed in recent times by how well breeze up horses have faired on the racetrack and particularly those trained by Kevin Ryan. Recent top class breeze up graduates for Kevin include Astaire, The Grey Gatsby, Amadeus Wolf, Hot Streak, Bogart, Blaine, Wi Dud, Our Jonathan, Bapak Chinta, Palace Episode, Captain Ramius to name but a few of his high class BREEZE UP horses.

We asked Kevin earlier in the year to source us a high class breeze up horse that we can race in the top 2yo races at the top racetracks in the country. We gave him a budget that matched his budgets in previous years to enable him to source these top class recruits. Initially we convened at Tattersalls in April in our search but all along Kevin had Doncaster in mind for our purchase given that he had heard stand out reports about a son of Approve that was on offer at the Doncaster Sale. We took the patient and prudent view and swerved a Tattersalls purchase with lot 65 at Doncaster in mind. In the breezes we were very taken indeed by lot 65's positive, strong and very fast breeze. He oozes class and strides out beautifully.

We couldn't fail but be impressed. Kelvin informed us that he had already seen the horse work prior to the sale over 5f so if the worry about breeze ups is that you get to judge horses over an unrealistic 2f gallop, then we can allay those fears immediately. Our budget for the horse going into the ring was £85,000 plus a bid if needs be. We felt that was his value having taken everything into account. We were absolutely thrilled therefore to manage to secure him for £90,000. We couldn't have been more pleased, he was our number 1 choice and ticked every single box. With sales house 6% commissions and agent's commission too, his purchase price comes in just short of £100,000. We still think this is a good spend and could represent exceptional value for money in time.

Now, we can make no promises at all, but we would be amazed if this horse was not a high class recruit to the Middleham Park ranks. Albeit lofty, for which we make no apology, the aim with this fellow is very firmly Royal Ascot and very very firmly the Gimcrack Stakes at York in August a race won last season by Kevin no less with the £70,000 breezer Astaire having won previously the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot with the £80,000 breeze up purchase Bapak Chinta. There is absolutely no reason why we can't emulate our Hambleton stable companions. This colt is classy, rest assured! As you can see from the videos and photos he is just about our idea of the perfect model. We can't fault him. He's stunning
"

Having looked at the sales photos the Chest and front look ok but tails away behid and shallow hipped. Neck a bit long. Demeanour looks how he breezed, a bit dopey. Lots of interesting items in the MPR text but a HEADLINE point is Kevin 'King of the Breeze Ups' Ryan bought them a horse having assessed it fully before the Breeze ups. Some of the names MPR list at Ryan 'successes' were retained at the Breeze sales (incl BOTH Group 1 winners) by owners associated with the stable so passed on to Ryan to train. How many of the others depended upon 'insider' knowledge and recommendations from trusted sources? Another Question is why is SA starting at 7f?
