SUMMARY
Slow Time.

Godolphin jks = Bow And Arrow (Kirby) & Directional (Lane).
Appleby's:-
FTO record = 3/43 (14.3%) with 13 others placed. All 3 debut wins at NMKJ.
STO Record = 10/29 (34.5%) & another 7 placed.
3TO = 0/9 with 2 placed.

Balding in 214 talks up Equitanus as a quality 'animal' who he will 'hold on to' (start later) because of the foaling date. Saying that if he had a 2yo (at that stage) who could win a 'good race' it would be Equitanus or Havisham (Unraced, cost €310k by Mount Nelson). Also noting that William Huntingdon, who bought Havisham, is Balding's Uncle (Ah ha..).

Light Breaks the 4th declared 2yo for Prescott and the 3rd at 7f. This first 'Batch' of 4 extended over an unusuallly long near 2 weeks as well as being notably late in the year and 7f oriented. Has he got 'nothing' this year that can be a competitive 5-6f 2yo?

Slower Pace and a lot of Stacking around the Bend and horses running 2-3Wd. Dutch Portrait wide drawn and a bit green and gallopy action and ended up ruiing 2 Wide around the bend and being asked to make ground at times by jk de Sousa. Bow And Arrow also running 2Wide and Stalking DP and moving more professionally and efficiently than DP with Kirby on (none of the de Sousa hustling no matter how wide on the bend you are). DP & BAA both looking bigger types compared to the Pairs they were racing outside of on the bend - Mecado & New Brunswick for DP & Equitanus & Ghalib for BAA.

Given the Slower Pace and the Active Wide Running on the Bend a Line-of-4 spread out in the Leading Line to 2f out with Mecado (FrSd-Cent) then NB, DP & BAA. Equitanus having run the rail on the bend using the Intersecton to be wide of Mecado & just behind the Lo4 to 2F out and Ghalib also close up trying to get into the gap between Mecado & NB. Given the '2F Sprint' nature it took the Bigger Pair of BAA & DP about 1F to wear down the other 4 and start to go Clear with the other 4 looking lesser types to the bigger pair (Equitanus mostly hidden on the Far Rail). . BAA still looking more professional & a cleaner mover than DP (still looking a bit gallopy and slightly mistimed).

[Written after Mecado declared for BTON 3 days after this run & over 6f. ]. Mecado on FTO but still knowing enough to be able to get to the lead on the rail and have a comfortable time while others making problems for themselves. Mecado assisted by Hughes quiet style which is to give the horse clear orders when required but keeping out of the way, and not confusing things, otherwise. An ok effort 2f out of the slower Pace but than stalling and Fading from just before 1f out and not looking like he stays 7f yet. Mecado running alongside NB and looking a similar height & frame if a bit more bulk (but less neatly made and a bit barrely). Sub 75 and 70ish..
