GSG from GGS on Decs. 7mm of Rain on Sun. Stiff WSW Wind = Direct Tailwind to the Intersection, 3/4 Tailwind HS. CoC quote= "Inner of straight dolled out 14yds at 6f and 6yds at the winning post. ". Malvia's last Work Video from 9th August in a pair with Stone Roses. That filly has run unplaced twice showing poor form but has looked 70+ and better than she has shown. In the work Video Malvia ends up giving SR a lead as that one again running free and the rider drops him in. SR coming alongside Malvia up the hill then leaving her 2L+ back at the finish with Malvia either tired or perhaps just moves scratchily. [Aug23] Slow Pace stacked field at Halfway and Wet Sail still pulling. Hughes a soft lead on Steal The Scene & running off the rail then cutting across to the Far Side acoss the Intersection. Race barely a 2F sprint and gets messy due to the lack of pace and the leading line of 3, duelling while not going anywhere much, collapsing onto the the Far Rail with STS hampering Lackaday & Wet Sail getting stuck behind the Leading Trio and taking time to work out back towards Centre Track to get a clear run. Note that the first 4f+ covered by a low angle camera down the HS. Wet Sail back off a break and wearing an XNB. A quick break but running too freely for 3f+ and hauled back to sit in 2R and never settled. Then a bit green and pulling forward into the Road Block of the leading trio in the last 2f. Which meant he didn't get a run until getting clear 0.5f from the line. An ok effort to get to 3rd and looking bigger than Lackaday. But, this looking a suspect 75 race and given the Slow Pace moderate form. Stewards' Enquiry Text = "The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference one and a half furlongs out. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, STEAL THE SCENE (IRE), ridden by Richard Hughes, had manoeuvred towards the far rail interfering with LACKADAY, placed second, ridden by William Twiston-Davies, but as the incident had taken place a furlong and a half out, and the winner had been eased in the closing stages, they found that the interference had not improved STEAL THE SCENE (IRE)’s placing. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered. The Stewards found Hughes in breach of Rule (B)54.1 and guilty of careless riding. They suspended him for 2 days as follows: Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 August 2014.". |
