Two x 2yo winners for the Burke yard on the day plus a close 2nd in the Acomb. Record with 2yos since start August to end 20th is 19 runners, 8 x winners and 6 x 2nds. Felix Leiter another to add to Toocoolforschool in being light framed but putting up performances above their apparent Power/Scope. Both very lean and fit types and either better than long term 80s? FL cost €16,000 at the Goresbridge Breeze sales and TCFS cost 16,000gns at a Tattersalls breeze sale. Burke also acquired Derby runner-up Libertarian for 40,000gns (nothing at that sale) at a Breeze Up sales at Tattersalls. Would be interesting to know what the Burke team are looking for at the Breeze Sales. They clearly are not working of the same Pedigree Shortlists and 'Fast Time' clockings that many feel is the answer. Also interesting to know what they are feeding them to get the strong results. Pictures of FL & TCFS below :-
4th Noted SEnq into Poor Performance for a MaJo 2yo with the usual 'Who Knows?' result (following Indescribable then Surewecan/Manshaa in the last few days) = Stewards' Enquiry Text = "The Stewards considered the running of POLARISATION, ridden by Joe Fanning and trained by Mark Johnston, which finished unplaced. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the colt's performance. They ordered POLARISATION to be routine tested. The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.". |
