SUMMARY
G fom GGS on Decs. 1.2mm rain Sat PM.

Clouds Rest a small zippy filly who won two early season races partly through precocity. 3 later runs in tougher races fitted with that view and down to OR79 here from 82 LTO in a Nursery and with an A5 riding. What to make of a clear 4L win? Is she really and OR80s filly? Has she grown and improved a bit? Inclined to the view she had to run a competent 70ish here for the clear win and the race falling apart behind her.

CR broke her maiden here by front-running from a draw next to the rail and the same set-up here (why does Fahey get stalls 1-2 so often?). Able to get a lead on the rail with Poolstock outside her from stall 2 and running for a new trainer having been claimed for £15k LTO when 3/5 in a claimer here. As the Halfway picture shows a wide line of 5 behind that pair with the widest three out near Centre track and all three fading eearly. That included the 'form pair' of Indaria & Chances Are show were 'gone' early. Widers runners seemed to be kicking up more divots and running the rail an advantage. The 2nd hone - Intruder - is last in the picture, niggled along by Hf, but running the rail. He had to switch off the rail to pick his way through the faders but still lost only a little ground on CR after halfway. Suggesting CR's winning distance misleading and one to oppose NTO in an Average+ quality maiden. This on turned out to be a moderate Nursery given the problems.

With those running wide on the track at a disadvantage the placed horses were last on the rails and 2R at 1 off the rails. If the reading of the set-up is correct then an especially poor run from Crosse Fire in 2R on the rail at Halfway (red jacket). He should have been in the right place to move foward to a clear 2nd at the finish if not challenging CR. Why so poor?
