GS by Race Time after 6mm of rain by 12:40pm but Chnaged to S straight after this race. G from GGF on Decs & meeting has to start on Ground no Firmer than G as the Course has agreed with the BHA. Watering as 7mm Weds, 7-10mm Fri & 6mm on the bend to HS Sat. But, Rain forecast for the Whole Day. Checked Terror's picture on the Qatar Racing website before watching the Breeze video. Picture shows about what you would expect for a 'Kodiac' Compact, ready looking and bit deeper in front. Perhaps a bit small? The video is then a bit of a surprise given Terror cost €75,000. Looking small in the Video and, more importantly, not looking or moving like a ready and zippy sprinter. Medium pace breeze and never quite groing forward nor organised and a bit of a KA. Not looking €75ks worth. Interesting result and a number of thoughts. One is how much Breeze Buys depend on 'insider knowledge'? Terror did nothing at the Goresbridge sale to look worth €75k but at least 2 teams bidding up to above €70k. As with Kevin Ryan's back catalogue you presume a lot of people are bidding off knowledge gleaned from the teams preparing the 2yos for the Breeze sales. Terror still looking small here in this group but travelling smoothly on this Softer going as the KA she has shown would suggest. On size grounds hard to believe she is much more than a zippy one who goes well on Soft. (say 80s of some sort & lacking scope?). Also a good example of an irritating practice with Twitter. Connections of horses - trainers, owners, breeders, sales houses, etc. etc. - popping up with "Boy can I train/own/breed/auction ...." Tweets every time they stumble into a win. Qatar Racing's Bloodstock advisor and Prince Frank's Boss soon, David Redvers on Twitter after Terror's win with a "Boy that was impressive, boy can I bloodstock..." type Tweet. But no worthwhile insight into Terror's background, what quality the win actually was, etc. But, the really irritating thing is the terrible cherry-picking & positive confirmation. The Redvers' Tweet would be acceptable if he ever sent Tweets like - "Jeez, but that Total Domination is stinking the place out..". Or, "Why did we buy Thumper? & when is ruddy Cowell ever going to get him fit??" |
