SUMMARY
GGF from GFG on Decs. Watered but no Details Given.

Stalls Centre.

A Nursery which to watch brings the thought to mind, again, of an anti-'Boy can I train/ride/bloodstock/handicap/ etc' Twitter Account. One which pops up to Tweet selectively when someone has made a Horlicks of training/riding/bloodstocking/handicapping' etc. Just to balance things out, like. After a 4 horse Photo in a recent Nursery produced a number of 'Good Result for the Handicapper' Tweets (step forward the BHA's Mr Tester to accept your prize...). But, what about the raft of Nurseries which are poorly constructed? This race finishing with the horses well strung out and another Nursery on the Day won by a 4/7fav.

The BHA make big play of Finishing Distances as the Yardstick they use to assess how 'close' (i.e. correct) their Handicapping is to 'Reality'. But, that is too easy and any race with lesser Pace Pressure will produce lesser finishing distances which the handicapper can claim to be his (all male still) handiwork. Which it might be in some cases but in others will just be circumstances, or a fluke. The obvious replacement Yardstick is the returned SPs. Since the BHA sees it's job as Levy Maximisation then long priced favourites and every horse in a race <12/1 might be a better measurement of success. Or, more usefully, what about actively developing a better Absolute Scale to judge the handicap against. Combine Times, PRev, etc to produce and independent assessment. Work out what the non-Linear equation which relates finishing distances to Race Pace Pressure and so on. Whatever, someone send a Tweet noting Mr Tester has to hand his Prize back after today's, Ahem, issues.
