GF as on Decs. 2-4mm Watering on Tuesday. Breeze Video for Etienne Gerard looks more promising than the €16k price tag. Presumably a smaller one but looks the ready type of the sire and solid deep bodied through. Balanced overall. Does a Breeze on a Flat Artifical surface and seems to belt along fine. Action a bit busy but fast and in keeping with the ready 5f type he seems to be. One thought looking at thee video is that the rider, although a bit leggy is sitting down and behind the horse. He stays in that position and just urging without moving around. EG looking balanced and at top speed. If you replaced that rider with a British jk bouncing up-and-down (and a bit sideways) and waving their arms around what would that add other than unpleasant 'Noise'. Given EG blasted along on a flat AW surface on his breeze and looking like a balanced spinter why does Tinkler start him on an uphill, turning 5f, on turf into a Headwind? £40k for Smoke Ring looks more to do with his strength than what the Breeze Video shows. Looks like a US Bred 'Two Punch' type. Compact, deep bodied 'Bull' sprinter. Perhaps a short and smaller frame? The sort of shape you would expect Nicholl's to be interested in. But, a nothing breeze and looking green and learning as he goes. Doesn't show a fast action or much snap overall and trundling through an unsteady Breeze. Look any better on firmer and more consistent turf here? Charlie's Approval cost £7k at the same sale as Smoke Ring. Breeze Video shows a smaller and shorter frame than SR and lacking his body depth and power. Looking very 'young' overall and physically immature. Trundles through a slower breeze showing a middling speed action and looking laboured doing it. === Post Race === [Oct 7] Gold Pursuit going through the race like the best type at times and having Free Entry scrubbed along at Hf with FE not going as well as either Clergyman (too free) & Cumbrianna (Smaller IC). GP kicking 2L clear into the HS but not seeing the distance out off a break or could have been a typical STO improver for the trainer. Ridden by jk Winston and typically unable to hold the horse and/or judge the pace. [Oct 12th] Signoret dropped back to 5f after not seeing out an uphil 5.9f LTO. Despite this being her 3rd run a Sloppy effort and still looking a bit green and startled. Slow break which meant she got shuffled back. Then a bit free in behind before lacking room to make her effort on the turn to the HS. Just a lower level but making some VTLs and going forward a bit at the line. Has OR70 after this which is the right area but has a bit of potential to rate higher by running professonally. Runs on Soft 4TO after 3 x GF and shows little KA and mostly straight front pendulum here. But does have a more reachingaction and not a classic fast, short, action sprinter. |
