=== Post Race ===

Interesting Race Shape with a solid pace in the BS and around the Bend stretching the field out. On turning into the HS the field 'split' into a Front 5 and back 5 with a small gap between them. But, the leading Pair allowing the Pace to stagnate from 3f+ out after Disushe Star headed and dropped (Light Pink in 9th on the rail and going backwards). This meant a lot activity in the Creep Zone (ie 3f out to 2f out with the 2f pole, or just before, being the traditional place to ask for Final Efforts). In the picture above (coming up to 2f out) the Leading 4 near the rail are the remaining 4 of the Front 5 into the HS. Lostock Hall in red has used the CZ to get from 2.5L back at 3f out to move up to join the leading pair of HenryTA (rail) & Properus. Lord Of The Rock is in the Pink/Black and remained on the rail behind.

Four of the Back 5 into the HS have made notable efforts from around 3F out to close up to the Leading quartet. Those 4 are together in the middle of the picture with their jks looking a bit more active. Mythical City has made the best progress and a notable forward effort out wide to get from 9th into the HS to 5th in the picture and challenging 4th by 2f out. In the blurb below about Count Monetcristo there is a lot about his galloping style and how much effort he puts into it. He is in the Light blue Far left and the picture shows a bit of that high and extravagant reach in Front. For eg, he has not been able to match the forward effort of the smaller MCity and is taking longer to 'get going'.

Interesting in the final 2F because the front 4 who have been closed up to end up going away from the others in the last 0.5f as those making wide moves in the CZ find their runs petering out at different points.

Mythical City a cheap one passed on to important owners so you would presume he had shown some ability. A mixed story in this race. Looking medium size, at most, in the goup and medium build at most to go with it. A slovenly start and got behind. If he had trundled around at the back and made some later and plugging on progress then nothing shown to be 'Of Interest'. On the negative side he starts hanging Right when he is starteing to creak and tire and this seems a fundamental part of his set-up and his hindlegs doing something odd. Just watch those two parts of the race and you have a smaller medium and green one who moves poorly when he gets tired. But, the zip, relatively in a 'boaty' race on fast ground, he shows to get from 9th well back to 4th at 2f out would suggest he can look a bit better than the overall effect if he has shown that in his work. But, size still niggling and does he really stay if his movement is put under pressure. Interesting to check since he steps up to 10f STO on a stiff track and appears to be the MaJo 1st string with Fanning riding.

=== Pre Race Notes ===

Note that Mythical City owned by the 'Chriselliam Partnership' which seems to be made up of owner breeders Chris Wright, Emily Asprey & Willie Carson who owned Chriselliam jointly using their own names. MC bought cheaply by MaJo & passed onto those owners = wouldn't pass a duff one on?

Fahey in his SL piece = "Jewelled Prince ran a nice race first time out, we were delighted with him. He’s a homebred and needed the experience of a day out. He’s in grand form and will improve for that outing. Henrytheaeroplane ran two nice races to start his career but came back flat from his last outing. He seems back to himself at home now and on the best of his form would be the pick of my two although Jewelled Prince is improving. They’d both have chances.".

Breeze Video for Count Montecristo shows at least a medium size one with ok build. Some length and mostly balanced. Does a straight breeze away fom the rails. Only really notable point is how hard the horse works to use all of the range it has Front & Behind. Gives the impression it is almost dipping it's back (minor 'Cheetah' style) to use it's full extension. But, just middling leg length so 'Range' just ok. Amount of effort in reaching seems to mean COM going his 'top' pace most of the time & hard to see where an extra (say 2f out) kick would come from. Picture on MPR website of COM at the Sale shows him looking very fit and ok deep & strong front..An Ok size but much scope to grow? First Cols for MPR but this is usually meaningless & just judge the Profiles without factoring that in.

MPR sales Blurb for CoM (in which they make big play of The Grey Gatsby, saying CoM will be similar and refer to The Grey Gatsby as 'our' at points as if they own him) = "Of the 131 breezes Kevin saw at this year's Arqana sale his nap/pick was lot 50, this son of the first season Pivotal sire Siyouni. You only have to look at his breeze to see the spring and power he puts into his stride. His breeze was very very quick in terms of time, he really puts his head into his big, long raking stride. Although he costa little less as a yearling we make no apology for pushing the boat out as far as 115,000 euros for this fellow. I'd rather pay that for the one Kevin really wants, than considerably less for a compromise horse. Again, when you look at this colt's breeze, you can see too that he still a little green and should develop his galloping style still further. He is as exciting a horse as we have on our books at Middleham Park. As an individual, he is an absolute brute of a horse. Big, strong, powerful and fast. Physically he's as impressive an individual as you could wish to find. Great substance and depth to his physique. We can make no promises at all, but we would be amazed if this horse was not a high class recruit to the Middleham Park ranks. There is absolutely no reason why we can't emulate our year older stable companion, The Grey Gatsby. This colt is classy, rest assured. He should stay a mile and with his potent turn of foot evidenced from the breeze he could be very hard to beat once on the racetrack".
