More Shoddy Work from a CoC with the meeting starting as GGF but changed to GSG after the first race (i.e. this race). Just light right and squalls and going clearly NOT GGF when the Meeting started. GGF from GF on Decs. Stiff- WSW Wind = Close to 1/2 Tailwind from the Left. Muir in 214 nots Dont Tel Louise had a sore foot which meant she missed the yearling sales. Adding that he bought her privately but not giving the price paid. Hannon in 214 saying Forres one of his nicer fillies but didn't expect her to run early because of the sire's record. Guest in 214 saying Goodyearforroses prob the best physical specimen of the 4 foals of racing age fom a dam he trained. Calling the first two foals 'ordinary' as racehorses. Meritt Island looking immature physically and mentally green on her Breeze Video. Prob medium size and build. 181st lot of 182 at the sale so has no choice but to do the Breeze in Centre Track given the wear & tear. Goes straight and shows the upright front and straight foreleg action of the her sire BUT with just a middling action speed. Doesn't move like she is a zippy 5f type so a 7f debut makes some sense. But, a lot of development needed and is she just slower/slow? === Post Race === Retreading the same old gound but to re-iterate, trainer Guest gets competitive debuts for his horses with ability. Those who can win at Auction/Maiden level usually show it FTO. This his second FTO win of 2014 following 3 in 2013 and 2 in 2012 after a break in years with lesser types. 4 of his last 5 FTO wins have been at LEIC. His only other winner this season was 2nd on debut at 12/1 at NOTT. There is a BUT, in the story though. He doesn't get many competent FTO wins where the horse cruises along prominently and kicks clear. The FTO winners are often a bit green and get behind. Presumably he gets them fit enough to finish races off and get to compete for the places late on (as happened here). |
