Going Changed to S after Race 1 (this one) after a 20 minute Heavy Shower <30mins before racing. This shower apparently added 2mm. Going changed to GGS after some light Showers in the am. G in early am from GFG on Decs after 7mm rain Mon & 1mm Tue. Showers forecast for the day, some heavy. Outer HS in use. Margarson makes Speedfit Rules his 'Bargain Buy' in 214 saying he is 'lengthy' and 'win at 2yo'. Passed onto owner Guest? Stevens in 214 saying he thought Qatar Success would be out 'early' but she had grown and changed. Still expected her to be out in mid-season. Note this has been a poor 2nd season for Stevens with just 1 winner from 11 individual runners so far. That winner - Peace And War won a Grade 1 on sloppy Dirt in the US the previous weekend and the Hype & Celebrating around that covering up to some extent waht a bad year this has been so far. Look at it the other way round and he appears to need a Grade 1 horse to get a 2yo winner in Britain. However, since that Grade 1 winner had been beaten in a Group 3 and Novice in Britain you wonder what a Grade 1 is worth in the US at times. One argument would be that PAW was US bred so 'improved' for the change to Dirt. Interesting to see what physical type Vale Of Paris presents as. Trainer had another 'in rea to lead late' FTO winner the previous day. VoP bought by Emma O'Gorman for €16k as a 1yo to prepare for the Brreze Sales. Missed a Tattersalls Breeze and eventually offerred at the Goffs London Sale at KTNA on the eve of Royal Ascot. Again, the RPost & Goffs figures don't match (£90k & £95k). Why retain the horse of £90k and not take the profit? VoP looks a good size in her Breeze Video and at least Medium tall and deep and solid build. 'Well Grown'. Doesn't use much reach in her action and more of an upright pounder and the action a bit busy. Presume the rider was Emma O'Gorman and doing a bit of the same 'waterskier' posture as seen before on her Breeze offers. God knows what that does to your Achiles Tendon. |
