G with GS places in the BS. 55mm Rain prev Sat & 2mm since. Rails Fully In. Fahey in his SL piece = "Henrytheaeroplane in the Maiden. He’s been a fraction disappointing as I always thought he’d win his maiden but he’s had a few goes now. He has the ability to win races though and looks the one to beat here.". [Oct 27th] Race initially looking like it might settle down with Henrytheaeroplane likely to get over and lead ont he rain in the BS. But, Ythan Waters a bit sweaty AP as usual and pulled to the lead after 1f. With the jk unable to hold him YT appeared to be winding the pace up from there on with 2-3 niggled or driven on the bend and YT 3-4L clear early in the HS and still pulling and the field behind started to get ragged behind 2R as the 'fell' into the HS. Ythan Waters another of those sweaty free runners that Smart gets too many off and doesn't appear to be settling down. Thankstomonty a bit green and driven for a lot of the race. But, looked more like a 'typical MaJo' 2yo than Summer Times in looking a bit cumbersome and lacking pace. Came across as a one-paced stayer and plugged on at his one pace up the Far Rail showing a medium KA and never stopping. In that context interesting to see how Thankstomonty goes 3TO stepped down to 6f on a straight track (with a Stong Tailwind). Is he going to look too slow or was the laboured effort here the bend and being green? Intresting also to see how Ythan Waters goes NTO as he runs in the 1st Division of the 6f maiden Thankstomonty is in the 2nd Div of. In a faster test then you would think TTM wouldn't be able to match YT's pace and would need the race to fall apart so he could stay on into being competitive. |
