SUMMARY
Going Changed to Soft by 16:00pm with a 5.5mm of rain from 12:30pm to 14:00pm. 13.5mm of rain Overnight and Going changed to GSS from G on Decs and presumably GF before the rain. Report states that the 'Soft in Places' patches are in the last 1F.

Rail Out by at least 10yds for the full 5f.

Another unsatifactory looking race which appears to need some explanation rather than just having an understandable shape to the race and the result. Soft going and a very slow time and what did the first 2 achieve in absolute terms? The race has a good record of turning out high class horses with the 2012 winner Bungleinthejungle going on to win the Gp3 pair of the Molecomb & the Cornwallis. 2013 victor Saayerr won the Gp2 Richmond stakes. Both of those larger fields had 3-4 x 75+ winners behind. But, they were run on faster ground and the quality of the horses easier to 'see' in the videos and the race shape. BITJungle ran the 5f in under 60s in his win in the race and you knew he was good.

Watch this race and Percy Alleline looks an unlikely winner for the first half of it. Perhaps just the smallest if ok build but also a bit green. Having to be niggled along most of the time and not looking that comfotable nor efficient on the ground. The in the last 2F he seems to be going ok, if still a bit stiffly, and produces enough of an effort to hold off Sunset Sail having held that one in at one point. The race finish looking unappealing visually. If this had been GF with a tailwind you would think PA would have been adrift by halfway and done well to plug back to a group at the finish. Can PA run 5f here in 60.5secs, for eg. No idea on this trundle. Needs full PRev.

Sunset Sail talked up as a good one in 214 and one Hannon thought could win FTO. A short price at ASCT on debut with Hughes choosing to ride hime. Didn't finish the race off on GS there off a soft lead but a good run. SS typical held up immediately by Hughes here and raced settled in 2R. Had to wait to get out-1.5f as PA held him in but a bulkier and stronger one than PA and forced himself out. But, then only producing a similar effort to PA and fading towards the line again. On the races he has run in for the Hannons he has to be OR80+ and might be higher given the words. Inclined to the view we haven't seen the best of him yet and faster ground will show it. Hannons tend to be less picky (precious?) than many trainers about ground and distance and just get on with racing. They probably though SS was good enough to win anyway and with the maiden sorted think about what level his next target would be.

The we get to the pair that race as the front rank and both faded notably. British Embassy a solid size and looks ok for 75 on VRev. Not a tearway here but racing a bit too free overall and the usual path jumped. Trainer's other runner on the day another STO who raced too freely in front rank (more obviously so) and faded to record a rating worse than FTO (common for EJH). Another with more to show if he settles and better ground.

Brazen Spirit looked to have improved physically from debut STO at NMKT and ran well on GFG. Ran a bit free in front rank here but only after 0.5f of niggling along at the start to get going. Plus, why has he been fitted with Cheekpieces when he ran fine STO without them? A flat effort from him in the last 2f even if you assume he doesn't show up well on softer going. Any hint of a negative attitude developing? Presume he wouldn't run on slower than Good again and see whether he looks physically improved (thriving more) NTO. Also, is his STO run at NMKT over-rated at 35? On this run it would seem so.
