GS from GGS on Decs with 3mm Rain on Weds (Decs Day). Makzon wearing an XNB at starts his Breeze Video fly-jumping and kicking back. Settles down and looking willing but probably does a slower Breeze. Despite all the early sparks has a slower action speed and just rolls along. Rider askes him to step the pace up 2-3 times in the last 1f and horse still looking willing. But, changing lead a lot, and not much range added and extra energy being put in by the horse doesn't seem to change his speed much visually. Given the action type a startat 8f fits. Medium size and round behind. Latest work Video for Penang Paparaja is from Oct 22nd and he works in a trio with Jargon (OR85 but lesser type than that on build & PRev) & Them And Us (FTO winner). Video looks very positive with PP racing betweent he other two and going best and starting to edge clear of Jargon late on up the hill with TAUs the first driven and already dropping off the other pair. In 214 Bell says that PP is a smaller one but 'hopes he is a racehorse'. PP a similar hight to the other two in the Work but a strong build and more powerful than Jargon for example. PP also looking willing and head down trier. In 214 True Respect talked up as aalready being physically set and strong and ahead of most of the others. Continuing they thought he could be contesting better races (presumably incl better maidens to start) from July onwards. Usual question over why the late start and is he readier than many of the others here? Or has his precociousness edge gone blunt? === Post Race === Field Raced Centre Track with an Average Pace at most and some pulling in behind. Final Pace increase by 2.5F out to add some Pace Pressure and spread the field out by ability with more than Half of the runners Walking by 1f out. Hints of an advantage racing Stands' Side of the Group. Thahab A medium one and running a bit too Free for the first 3f. Made smooth progress in the CZ then a solid effort at 2F out to probably just overlap the duelling leading pair around 1.5f out. Fading in stages from just before 1f out. Thahab's debut the last of 22 for owners Al Shaqab Racing (Joann Al Thani) with 16 Hannon trained & the other six by Fahey (2), Gosden, Haggas (2) & Stoute. The majority ridden by retained jk Dettori on debut and he seems to see Debuts as being for Educational purposes these days and the 22 x FTOs produced just one win. That was by Moheet who won a weak SALS maiden FTO but perhaps showing something a little different (Breeze buy). |
