SUMMARY
Text below written in am when HYDK reporting a GStick reading at 9.8 (GF+ range for course) and official FGF call. This was the 2nd race on the card and during the first race off at 14:00pm there was a reported heavy shower. Going apparently changed to GOOD before this race. Which would make the Final Time more sensible but needs checking. FGF to G in less than 30 minutes? Checking around there were 17 NRs before the Meeting started because of FGF. Also a small number of comments on Twitter all with slightly different stories and numbers but all suggesting CoC Kirkland Tellwright is being incompetent or worse (scheming in some way = "Conspiracy Theories, the irresistable labour saving devices in the face of complexity") to give believable Going Reports.

FGF from G on decs and presumably a mistake by the CoC given the current attitude of "..if it doesn't move - water it". Course missed the heaviest rain on Thu and only received 5mm. The 4mm forecast for the day needs to get there early for the CoC's sake. Stiff to Medium Easterly Wind = 3/4 Tailwind from the Right.

Inner Home Straight (HS) in use.

Winslows's win brings Appleby's 2014 record to 13 x FTOs of which 3 placed 3rd of 8+ runners and 10 were unplaced, followed by 4 x STOs with 2 wins and 2 x 2nd places.

Interwsting race shape with an average pace, at most, to past halfway with the field racing Centre track and only 5-6 Lanes wide overall and only 4L back to the last horse at halfway. Pace winding towards-2F for the final 'Sprint' and the field opened out into a Line-of-7 spread wide acros the track from Cent-Stands to Cent-FrSd = from left (CStds) as Marmalad, HOAL, Winslow, BAlga, Red Flute, Ustinov and Markaz. The first 3 home then pulled clear together and all drifting left in last 1F. Marmalad plugging on at his own pace to be a clear 4th-1f and the other five all fading in a byt 1F out. Divots being kicked up and horses fading early off a usable pace suggests softer going. BUT, HYDK is another on of those courses where the surface has been completely relaid (along with ASCT & YORK) where races can fall apart in peculair ways on any Going Report.

The two in 8th & 9th as the Lo7 fomation team assembled getting behind for different reasons. Revolutionist looking an ok size but leggy and gangling. As with many MaJo debuts he clearly hadn't been told what 'galloping' or 'racehorse' entailed and was floundering around from early. A development project and presumably over 7f+. The dam produced bigger boaty ones when she has produced better class types. This one not as well made and a niggle over why he is in Sheikh Mohammed's son's ownership and not with Godolphin. Baffling why anyone would punt a MaJo debut from 12/1 to 7/1 since you can have only the vaguest idea how the horse will run. It really could do 'anything'.

Medrano a smaller one in field context but ok length. Another too green to get going and then hanging left in the last 2f and then finally carved up by Revolutionist rolling around and jk left it. Ridden as if an Educ Intro & probable Nursery type.
